Agreed. For a lot of people, employers could make this a tough decision (dumb business IMO).vball10set;1315949 wrote:True, but you work to take care of your family -

I think for most, it wouldn't be a tough decision at all.queencitybuckeye;1316019 wrote:Agreed. For a lot of people, employers could make this a tough decision (dumb business IMO). -
Commander of AwesomeAvg working joe? Not a question, you go to the delivery room. NFL player of a team that's in the playoff hunt and you're the DPLOY candidate? Sorry I'm playing the game. I get paids MILLIONS of dollars, my team is counting on me, fans are counting on me and I have a chance to be named the best defensive player in the league? Yeah you better believe I'm playing.

queencitybuckeyeYou're right, most people would go to work.

I highly doubt it.queencitybuckeye;1316125 wrote:You're right, most people would go to work. -

Agree with that, but wouldn't lose any respect for the man that chose to be with his family.Commander of Awesome;1316124 wrote:Avg working joe? Not a question, you go to the delivery room. Take the extreme case. Being at your child's birth would be worth having nowhere to live when they come home?GoChiefs;1316126 wrote:I highly doubt it. -

You aren't getting fired at 90% or more of the employment places in America for being at your child's birth. A few cases, yes, of course you go to work, but that's why I said most, not all.queencitybuckeye;1316129 wrote:Take the extreme case. That was the scenario we have been discussing since post #27. You are correct that if there's no risk to your job, of course you go to the hospital.GoChiefs;1316132 wrote:You aren't getting fired at 90% or more of the employment places in America for being at your child's birth. You owe your family more than your employer no matter how much money you make. The fans make it possible to make the big money, but you don't owe them this.Commander of Awesome;1316124 wrote:Avg working joe? Not a question, you go to the delivery room. I guess I missed the part where a specific scenario was laid out. -

We were talking to each other in entirely different contexts. Fixing that misunderstanding, it sounds like we're basically on the same page.GoChiefs;1316141 wrote:I guess I missed the part where a specific scenario was laid out. -
LJBirth, no question

Owe my family? What are you even talking about. I'm playing, family should understand.queencitybuckeye;1316136 wrote:You owe your family more than your employer no matter how much money you make. The fans make it possible to make the big money, but you don't owe them this. -

I said you don't owe the fans your presence at the game under this circumstance. You owe them a lot, but not this.Commander of Awesome;1316147 wrote:Owe my family? What are you even talking about. I'm playing, family should understand. -

Yet how many other jobs in the world allow for maternity/paternity leave, medical emergencies, sick time, etc. But, not surprised something obvious slipped by a retard like you.Tiernan;1315857 wrote:Your job is to play the game. Until 40 yrs ago men were never around for births...suck it up. -
ThePatriotBirth. Gotta be there especially for the reason that some complications potentially arise.
However, I really would hope there would be some planning ahead on the couples part as to not have a child due in January-early February. How tough would it be to have to decide between the birth and a playoff game or Super Bowl.
Accidents do happen though. If my wife was giving birth and I was to play in the Super Bowl there'd definately be C-section scheduled. No way am I missing the Super Bowl. -
sportchamppsHe probably knows cutler is gonna throw a bunch of picks anyways so he should just watch his child be born
On a serious note jj watt will destroy their oline -

sportswizuhrdFor all of the guys(athletes in this case) that get shitted on(and deservedly so) for not being there as a father for their kids, this guy is and some are still giving him shit. I guess they are in a no win situation.

On another note. C'mon Man. It's called family planning. You only really need to work 16-20 Sundays a year. Knock her up between April and December. -

What about your wife who is counting on you? You think he owes more to fans he does not even know than he does to his own wife?Commander of Awesome;1316124 wrote:Avg working joe?
