Agreed. For a lot of people, employers could make this a tough decision (dumb business IMO).

I think for most, it wouldn't be a tough decision at all.

Avg working joe? Not a question, you go to the delivery room. NFL player of a team that's in the playoff hunt and you're the DPLOY candidate? Sorry I'm playing the game. I get paids MILLIONS of dollars, my team is counting on me, fans are counting on me and I have a chance to be named the best defensive player in the league? Yeah you better believe I'm playing.

You're right, most people would go to work.

    I highly doubt it.

Agree with that, but wouldn't lose any respect for the man that chose to be with his family.

Take the extreme case. Being at your child's birth would be worth having nowhere to live when they come home?

You aren't getting fired at 90% or more of the employment places in America for being at your child's birth. A few cases, yes, of course you go to work, but that's why I said most, not all.

That was the scenario we have been discussing since post #27. You are correct that if there's no risk to your job, of course you go to the hospital.

You owe your family more than your employer no matter how much money you make. The fans make it possible to make the big money, but you don't owe them this.

I guess I missed the part where a specific scenario was laid out.

We were talking to each other in entirely different contexts. Fixing that misunderstanding, it sounds like we're basically on the same page.

Owe my family? What are you even talking about. I'm playing, family should understand.

I said you don't owe the fans your presence at the game under this circumstance. You owe them a lot, but not this.

Yet how many other jobs in the world allow for maternity/paternity leave, medical emergencies, sick time, etc. But, not surprised something obvious slipped by a retard like you.

Birth. Gotta be there especially for the reason that some complications potentially arise.

However, I really would hope there would be some planning ahead on the couples part as to not have a child due in January-early February. How tough would it be to have to decide between the birth and a playoff game or Super Bowl.

Accidents do happen though. If my wife was giving birth and I was to play in the Super Bowl there'd definately be C-section scheduled. No way am I missing the Super Bowl.

For all of the guys(athletes in this case) that get shitted on(and deservedly so) for not being there as a father for their kids, this guy is and some are still giving him shit. I guess they are in a no win situation.

I'm a Texans fan. Definitely go to the birth.

On another note. C'mon Man. It's called family planning. You only really need to work 16-20 Sundays a year. Knock her up between April and December.

What about your wife who is counting on you? You think he owes more to fans he does not even know than he does to his own wife?
