hasbeenI was reading a recent Rolling Stones magazine and one older musician said something to the tune of "once you hit a certain age, you should get off the stage. You sound horrible and your showmanship can't save you anymore."
I believe they hit the nail on the head. -

Agreed! It's like the Beach Boys being on tour too. There comes a time when you should just give it up.hasbeen;1292657 wrote:I was reading a recent Rolling Stones magazine and one older musician said something to the tune of "once you hit a certain age, you should get off the stage. I saw the Beach Boys three years ago and I actually really enjoyed it. I have no idea how their show was when they were younger, but I thought the one I saw was good.Apple;1292736 wrote:Agreed! It's like the Beach Boys being on tour too. There comes a time when you should just give it up. -
TiernanWhen you see the Beach Boy(s) today you are seeing one Beach BOY...Mike Love. That guy has been a huge prick to the other original members thru the years. Just recently after some amends were made for a couple gigs, Love kicked out Brian Wilson and Al Jardine (again!) and is touring with a bunch of other old BB studio musicians. And anybody that considers Bruce Johnson an original BB is FoS.

GoPensSaw the Stones about 5 years ago. They could still bring it then. Hope I get around like Jagger does at his age.

I was dragged to one of their concerts back in the 1970's - show was NOT good. The tight, balanced harmonies you heard on their recordings just weren't possible with the sound technology available then. That might have changed over the years - or the backups might be better vocalists.Fab4Runner;1292826 wrote:I saw the Beach Boys three years ago and I actually really enjoyed it. SpeedofsandSaw the Beach Boys in '81. Someone threw something (paper cup?) and hit a cop in front of the stage. One of my friends saw it and LOL'd. The pig saw my friend and assumed it was him that threw it and kicked him out of the stadium. The sound was ok, not great at an outdoor gig back then. It was a spring break free show, I didn't complain.
Saw the Stones in '81 w/ Van Halen. I bought 6 tix and scalped 4 so mine were free. Saw the Stones again in '97, they were over the hill.
