If you were doing it all over again . . .

I would have double majored in international business and a language or just the language minor.

I also would have taken learning another language MUCH more seriously starting in high school.....big regret of mine.

I wouldnt change much. It all happened for a reason and its made me who I am today. I guess if I had to change something it would be my dad being well so I wouldnt have to take care of him.

It seems to me that some people are happy/content no matter the circumstances, while others can find a cloud in every silver lining. I suspect that, by disposition, I'm closer to the latter, which kind of sucks. Generally, I'm more or less happy with what I do (lawyer), though many parts of it are miserable.

I dont see myself wanting to go back. I do wish I had the opportunity to have like 3 different careers so I could do everything I really wanted to do.

This is not Facebook, and it's no mystery to whom he was talking. Not sure this qualifies for Vaguebook.

As for your statement, I think that's actually pretty cool. Why can't you get into it now?

Of course I knew he was talking to me... he quoted me. I asked to which par the "wow!" referred.

Family. Money. Time. It is a huge commitment, and requires a lot of travel. There is a kid in my area, just graduated HS, who aspires to be an NBA ref. He's got the look and mechanics. Will just take some time for him. Realistically, if I really put my effort into it, and networked right, I honestly think I could make it at least to the D1 level. I already have some pretty good connections that I think would enable me to work in some small college conferences, then work my way up... Just not sure if I have the desire to pursue it b/c of my other responsibilities.

I think he knew who he was talking to. He just wanted to know which part he was referencing when he said, "wow". It wasn't very difficult to understand.

Who said it was difficult to understand. I said it didn't apply.

    Perhaps you didn't understand me.

I figured you knew he was talking to you. That's not a "vaguebook" thing, though.

Fair enough. I've never looked into it. I didn't really think about how much would be involved. It sounds like it'd be really cool.

Wow to this. Impressive that you may have the ability to make it.
I know the clinic was today in Perrysburg.

Sorry to set off a derail of the thread. I was just impressed.

You of all people should know that connections help a ton. I'm not tooting my own horn, and saying I'm an incredible ref. I just know that, if I put all my focus into it, I'm sure I could climb that far. Why? Because I listen. I'm steps away from the state HS level and have had a relatively short career, considering my age.

I don't know... I guess it is just the one area where I actually have a lot of confidence in my abilities, with the ability to be a humble learner, and strive to get better.

No changes here, maybe get started in it a little sooner.

I love what I do and just wish I would've found out about what I needed to do to be more qualified earlier. It's alright though, I'm still working my way into that "career" position. Hopefully in the next 6-10 months I'll get it. We'll see.

Naval Academy, even though I met my wife in undergrad. I have a good feeling we would have met eventually. No question I would have been accepted (had a few examples from my county that got into West Point and AFA that had far inferior numbers that I did). And I would have enjoyed the opportunity to have travelled at a youngish age - would probably have made me better rounded.

On the other hand, I don't think people should regret much. The decisions we make shape us into who we are currently, not a fantasy self. Not to take this to the political forum but the global economy is so crappy for practically anyone younger than the baby boomers that its easy to second guess oneself.

I like who I am and what I have done in my life. I enjoy my profession and achievement I have obtained. </SPAN>
The only change is to be able to read, write better and understand grammar more. I can&#8217;t change when I was born and the knowledge the educational system had at that time for reading, writing and dyslexia problems. I was also the problem because of my behavior, dislike for schooling and the responsibility to being in money for the family support. But all of that help share me and create who I am and I&#8217;m good with that.. </SPAN>

When I look back I always wanted to be Car Designer or Architect and in a small way I'm in those areas. </SPAN>

Would've went to a trade school - probably become a mechanic and get certifications to work on German and Italian cars.

Not quite too late yet, but pretty much unrealistic at this point.

    Same career - IS/computer programming

My fiance would choose a new career. Instead of Sport Administration (nothing) she would go into sports physiology or some health science.
