YtowngirlinflaLooking into getting it. Is it worth it? I know the 2 day shipping is but how is the streaming? I currently have Netflix but I'd drop it for prime.
-
Steel Valley FootballWe have it. My wife says it's worth it. I don't use amazon very much.
-
Raw Dawgin' itIt's worth it if you have a kindle fire.
-
justincredibleWe have it because we can get it for half price. The two day shipping is nice and there are some decent shows available to stream.

If it is still an active account, probably. They arent going to investigate. If an .edu address works, most places will just give the student discount.Raw Dawgin' it;1276103 wrote:Wait...if i have an edu email i'll get half off, even if I'm not a student? -

I'll definitely look into this. My free membership is up on the 14th, so i'll see if it works.Laley23;1276113 wrote:If it is still an active account, probably. They arent going to investigate. If an .edu address works, most places will just give the student discount.
Justin - did you have to provide anything other than you .edu email? -

Yeah, worth a try for sure. I get a lot of that stuff because I am an alumni member at Indiana...for 20$ a year. Pays for itself considering my .edu address stays active from college, though I never check it. Just put that as my email and get a lot of discounts.Raw Dawgin' it;1276119 wrote:I'll definitely look into this. My free membership is up on the 14th, so i'll see if it works.

I changed my address then went to renew prime and it still said $79. I guess I'll wait until it's over and call them about it.Laley23;1276128 wrote:Yeah, worth a try for sure. I'm not a prime member but we can still stream tv shows.
Is there more shows?
I don't shop on amazon so is it worth it just for the streaming? -

We dropped netflix and switched over. Head to head, netflix is better, but we're cheap. Amazon is "good enough" for us, given that we don't watch much tv. -

The OP. -
imex99Prime definitely is behind Netflix but they're signing new studios and expanding there streaming library. Plus, you can't beat amazon 2 day shipping when you can find great prices on every day items to ur Christmas or bday shopping.

WTF? The thread is about dropping Netflix for Amazon Prime lolTiger2003;1276337 wrote:Huh who said anything about Netflix. -
Raw Dawgin' itthe 2 day shipping is money and makes it worth it. Plus i have a kindle fire and a free book a month is pretty sweet too - although most of the free books are less than $5 anyways ha.

I don't use the streaming, but will have to look more into it. I'm with you... the free 2-day shipping is sweet. There are A TON of times where the item will even arrive the next day. I will keep Prime just for the shipping, but my wife also likes the book-a-month, and discounted books for her kindle.Raw Dawgin' it;1276505 wrote:the 2 day shipping is money and makes it worth it. You're not being serious, right? On streaming content, Netflix & Amazon Prime are the two leaders. Netflix, IMO, is better, but the question is whether the other Amazon benefits (free 2-day shipping, free books, etc.) are worth the cost. For us, they are, but we don't watch much TV. It enabled us to drop cable, but others may view things differently.Tiger2003;1276337 wrote:Huh who said anything about Netflix. -
NilesPacManAs a student, I absolutely love Amazon Prime (especially the half-off price I get for it). The free two-day shipping is really nice to have when buying textbooks, and they have a decent collection of movies/TV shows.
I think that if you buy from Amazon, and/or you are feeling Netflix's collection is getting stale, I'd switch. However, I think that Netflix does have the better selection of movies/TV shows (more TV shows that are still on are on Netflix, I believe). If you are going off from a pure selection standpoint, it's a toss-up depending on what you want.
The streaming with Amazon Prime is pretty good; I haven't had any problems with it so far. The only times where it is left to be desired is when my own internet connection isn't the strongest. -
ernest_t_bassNetflix is available on more devices, too. Not mobile, but tvs, gaming systems, etc.
