Wireless kicks me off every now and then
-
teamcocoI recently bought a new wireless router (Netgear N600 Dual Band) and every now and then it kicks me off the internet... it comes back within a couple minutes but comes and goes as it pleases. I thought my problem was my router (had an old Belkin that did the same) but maybe it's not the router?
We have a desktop (not wireless), 2 laptops, iPad, and 3 iPhones in our house but they aren't always being used at the same time.
I can't imagine the router is being overloaded with signals since this still happens when all other devices are not in use.
Are there any router settings that need to be adjusted or anything else that needs to be done? My router says its on 5.4 GZ and we use an WPA2-PSK 802.11n -
swamisezI have the same router and have similar issues, specifically with my iPad. I found that if I went into router settings
(routerlogin.com for netgear) and changed the broadcast to a setting that works better in a multiple wireless network environment, some of the kickoff problems went away.
You can also see all the devices on your network and can increase device number max or minimize.
Hope you get it figured out -
Classyposter58I just had a similar problem. It's probably interference from too many wifi signals on the same channel. You just have to go into your router and change your channel to 1 or 11

SpeedofsandStart your own wireless gang and get back at them.

teamcocoI changed to channel 11 so we'll see what that does.
I am using the WPA2 security thing... should I be using WPA instead?
