My first one was at age 13, and that was more for the Atari 2600 than TV. We lived in the boonies so we didn't have cable, just NBC, ABC, CBS, and PBS on the rabbit ears. I don't think I ever watched television, just used it for the games.

I didn't, but even if I did I wouldn't have been home to ever really use it. Was too busy with sports and other activities. Only time I ever watched TV was during the summer after morning practice before the rest of my friends were up for the day.

To answer the question I had a TV in my room since I was about in 2nd grade. Once I got to college I never had a TV in my room (not counting dorm life). My parents made sure to kick me outside. I typically only watched TV in my room at night when I was going to sleep. It also was a good way to discover porn on those fuzzy channels.

    I had one as a kid, I don't now.

But I grew up in a different time, you had to force me to come back inside, didn't matter the season. Too many shiftless layabouts these days (kids and parents).

I played basketball in the driveway until all hours of the night. Even in snow and ice cover, just threw on some gloves that I could still dribble and shoot in.

Yeah, it's fucked now. I can't speak for everywhere, but my hometown area has gone to shit. It's a ghost town, even during the summer. We'd be a group of 10+ kids on bikes wreaking havoc until our parents yanked us back inside.

If you are a good parent, your child would be allowed to have a tv in their room.

Hell yeah! I even remember taking a hammer to ice to get it playable!

Neighborhood kids, about a dozen, are pretty good about still getting outside all summer long. I am very fortunate to live in a town where the school, and park, are almost centerstage. If you live within the village limits, you are at MOST 1.25 miles away from both so parents let their kids almost run free during the summer and riding to school.

As far as TV in your rooms....nowadays...eh. "back in my day" we had just the antennae so we had maybe 5-6 channels so it wasn't nearly as raunchy as TV is today

I can't imagine a television would get much use in a lot of kids' bedrooms with the current state of social media, gaming, and everything else that takes place on a phone or a laptop. And I hardly think most parents will prevent their children from having THOSE things in their rooms.

    yeah, you are right.

I remember I was stoked when I got a TV in my room as a kid. It was black and white. The schools were selling their's and we got one for the bedrooms. Best thing about it was staying up late on Friday nights for Friday Night Video's and watching the Alcoa Fantastic Finishes that Monday Night Football had during a commercial I think at the 2 min warning.

lol he was such an asshat. So many butthurt bitch boyz in the past who always thought their shit didn't think/hot taeks were the gospel. Disagree with them even a little and they'd fill out a hurt feelz report.

I went back and reread this thread last night and had to SMH at his post. "hey we talkin about TV's in your kids rooms? How about I remind everyone I've had sex before!"

He came up with "netflix and chill" before anyone else. He just called it "watch TV" instead. And then explained the joke, because saying that he and his girlfriend "watch TV" was way too subtle. PROTIP: NEVER explain the joke. SMH is right.
