AdSense Update
-
justincredibleFinally got some response back and the issue lies in "sexually gratifying" content. Unfortunately it's pretty open to what they might consider "sexually gratifying" content.
Basically, we'll be going through the site (even the basement) removing anything that might be considered overly sexual in the hopes that we'll get ads back. I know people will probably complain but this point, I can't really care. If you want to look at half naked chicks, use google. Obviously I'd prefer to not be so strict about this but getting ads back is EXTREMELY important. If anyone wants to help, taking a look back through old threads and reporting stuff that could be considered "sexually gratifying" (such a stupid term) would be extremely helpful. Or you can tell me to "GFY". Either option is fine.Word from support is that the problem is "sexually gratifying" content on your site. You'll need to remove that before ad serving can be re-enabled.
See this article about what AdSense considers to be "family safe" content (even bikini shots can be a problem, depending on the pose.):

justincrediblePlease don't post pics in this thread. I thought that would've been obvious.

like_thatI assume the posts would consists of pics, correct? I can't see how saying the "F" word or something like that would be considered sexually gratifying. Anyway, if you need a starting point, just look at every single post done by Devils advocate or Password.

Crimson streakBut seriously though I hope you can get the ad sense back. I enjoy coming here and would be pretty disappointed if this place shut down.

Yeah, I think pics and possibly suggestive text. Like talking about explicit sexual stuff but not necessarily using the f-word. I have most curse words filtered for bots, anyway.like_that;1257859 wrote:I assume the posts would consists of pics, correct? Does a human inspect the site himself/herself? I can't imagine the software being able to pick up on suggestive text.justincredible;1257862 wrote:Yeah, I think pics and possibly suggestive text. sleeperI applaud the decision by Justincredible.

vball10setWow, we may have to wipe out everything and start from scratch-lol...all kidding aside, I'm glad you know where we stand with them now, and hopefully we'll get these ads back up and running asap

Software can absolutely pick up on stuff like that. Certain phrases/keywords can trigger a flag. It's easier for software to pick up on text than to tell if an image of a girl in a bikini is in a sexually suggestive post.like_that;1257865 wrote:Does a human inspect the site himself/herself? mcburg93Congrats on some news good or not. Hopefully things get better even if you have to enforce rules harsher then at the other site.

I don't think they have ever really allowed "adult" content.mcburg93;1257876 wrote:Congrats on some news good or not. Hopefully things get better even if you have to enforce rules harsher then at the other site. -

How far back do they go? Do you have to look through locked threads? -

The closest they had was "the big show" but that was tame compared to a lot of the stuff posted here. Even so that got shut down early on in JJ's history.justincredible;1257878 wrote:I don't think they have ever really allowed "adult" content. -

The hot or not thread has some pretty provocative pictures. Im not sure if they have adsense or what they are using for ads though.justincredible;1257878 wrote:I don't think they have ever really allowed "adult" content. -
ernest_t_bassLOL. Window World.

Pick6Why do we need Adsense with sponsors?

To run any website costs money. And this gets enough traffic that justin has to pay for certain features/space that it runs appropriately. This costs money, and Justin doesn't feel like paying out of pocket.Pick6;1257913 wrote:Why do we need Adsense with sponsors? -

Yes and try to tell that owner to GFY and see what happens. -

If every forum itself and the site itself had sponsorship, he may be able to dump it? But we're not there yet. -

This. We have one sponsor.ts1227;1257930 wrote:If every forum itself and the site itself had sponsorship, he may be able to dump it? But we're not there yet.
