Chuck Taylors

    Acceptable? Or only for douchebags?

  • derek bomar
Not sure how wearing chuck taylors would make you more or less of a d-bag... fail?
  • brutus161
    Completely acceptable.
  • sherm03
Not sure how it's a fail. People make judgments about a person based on all kinds of things, including the clothing they wear. If I saw a dude wearing skinny jeans, I would assume that person is a douche for wearing those.

My question is, if you see someone wearing Chucks, do you assume they are a douche? Or do you not even notice and/or care?

Fail for me due to no arch support. I am fine with people wearing them, especially skaters who need a flat surface to push and land on. No problems with the style, no different than wearing air jordans or addidas with no laces.

Don't care, Chuck's are fine either way though.

On the jeans do you mean like the super skin tight ones or like 508s? Because I'd agree with the first but we're going to disagree if the latter makes you a douche.

your shoe choice doesn't make you a douche. You presuming they're a douche bc they wear chucks makes you a douche (if you do that)

So, I take it you wear chucks?

Super tight ones. If a dude is wearing jeans that look like they should be on a chick...said dude is a douche in my book.

Your shoe choice can make you a douche, if the shoes are douchey. If I see a dude wearing Crocs, I would assume that he is a douche.

I don't think that Chucks are douchey. But was having a conversation with some friends last night and quite a few said that they do. I wanted to find out if this was a widespread thing that I was unaware of.

    This.

Don't care what kind of shoes others wear. They're just shoes.

    IMHO:

The inability to wear pants without your boxers showing is douche.
Wearing a stickered flat billed cap off to the side is douche.
  • gerb131
I wouldn't wear them or drink PBR but eh whatever.
  • Pick6
If I see somebody wearing chucks I automatically assume hipster.
  • Rotinaj
I don't wear chucks but know a couple people who do. No douche. Skinny jeans on the other hand.
  • cat_lover
I grew up in the 60's-70's and up until junior high school they were about your only choice for athletic wear. Good Gawd those things were horrible. No arch support or ankle support. I can't believe they have become a fashion statement.
  • Trueblue23
Chucks are alright, just not for me. I'm more of a Vans, Sperry, Nike kinda guy.

I have a pair, wear them with shorts often. Don't care what people say or think about them. When worn in they are quite comfortable.
  • reclegend22
I agree with the "I don't give a fuck" sentiment above. Wear what you want. Conforming to what you think others think you should be would make you an even bigger "douche." I don't own any Chucks, but I do own a pair of Converse Jack Purcell's from J.Crew, which are basically Chuck Taylor's younger brothers.

I also wear my Beats by Dre in the airport, like Michael Phelps.

    OP is a douche

That's true. But it's not what I was asking.
  • raiderbuck
I have a couple pairs of chucks. All low tops. They're classic.
  • OSH
They don't bother me, but I wouldn't wear them. I just don't think they look good.

I hate the new look, or at least it has came back and is "new," of socks with sandals. It makes no sense. I don't mind it if someone is wearing socks with sandals as they just got done with a practice or is taking the trash out...but the fashionable look is not fashionable.

I love my Chucks and I don't think anyone else who wears them is a douche.
