Yeah, absolutely. At this point in time I lack the motivation to do so.
Bingo. This essentially forces me to do it. I'm too cheap to waste the money that I've spent so I'm going to go. If I'm not paying anything then I'm not necessarily going to be motivated to do it.I Wear Pants;1242426 wrote:Well yes, but a lot of people won't do them which is where things like this come in.
If Justin thinks he'll either do something like this or not workout much then definitely he should do something like this. It's better than nothing. -

My form was probably terrible when i did it, but i'd like to be able to work up to a few reps, 3-5.justincredible;1242479 wrote:Just watched a video of what they are. I could probably do 1. -
derek bomarI love it. I'm part of a small gym that basically doesn't recruit or actively take in new members - you basically have to know someone to get in. The coaches are ex-military and are very strict when it comes to form. It's basically like a team and I really like the people at the gym. It reminds me a lot of off-season workouts for sports back in the day, just a little more intense. It's awesome. I go about 2-3x a week. Next year I hope to compete in the FC games downtown that were held last weekend - didn't go this weekend because of a wedding.

How many members does the gym have? Does it offer multiple classes each day or is it small enough that everyone meets at the same time?derek bomar;1242487 wrote:I love it. I am almost done with the 2nd week and we've already decided we'll be joining after our groupons are up. They offer a "couples unlimited" rate for $175/month. It's only a few bucks more than most of the other CrossFit places in town charge for just a single membership and is the only place I've found that offers a couples discount. I also really like the instructor and the other people that help him out. -
Fly4FunI guess I do a version of cross fit but it's just stuff I've put together over a lifetime and some reading.
I pretty much don't do weights anymore except for a few exercise. I mainly just do a lot of body weight exercises. Different varieties of push ups and pull ups one day. The next day jumping exercises and core. I usually try to keep my workouts between 15-25 minutes or so.
I think it works well. I know my friend who is in the marines did cross fit and thought it did a great job of preparing him physically. -
hasbeenDid not read the entire thread because I don't care about this topic that much.
I have done workouts from this: http://www.crossfitfootball.com/ during college. My coach had us do them once or twice a week during the off-season. I should get back into them to help with losing weight, but tough to find the room in a gym without pissing people off. -

There is a 6AM class M-F and a 5:30 and 6:30 PM class M,T,R. There's also an 8:00 and 9:30 AM on Saturdays. I'd say we have about 30-40 people in total. It's not technically a "cross-fit" gym since they're not affiliated or whatever, but we do the same shit basically. It's a pretty tight group of people. This weekend we're all getting together at a local park to do some sort of group fun excursion thingy majigger. And a bunch of the guys (myself included) are running the Bourbon Chase next month.justincredible;1248362 wrote:How many members does the gym have? I can do about 15. But my shoulders are in way better shape than my other muscle groups, by far. For some reason I've always been that way.Raw Dawgin' it;1242436 wrote:Can anyone here do muscle ups? -

^^ Crossfit is a scam by having people pay large amounts of money for stupid workouts that would get you laughed out of most gyms. I'm not at a computer, but later I'll post a vid of people trying to lift at a crossfit gym. -

I don't really agree, but then again I don't pay money to an affiliated gym. But I do the workouts, and they are usually pretty intense. I go 2-3 times a week and it's a great deviation from the normal "run X miles or do X amount of reps on a (insert machine here)".DeadliestWarrior34;1248929 wrote:^^ Crossfit is a scam by having people pay large amounts of money for stupid workouts that would get you laughed out of most gyms. It's a scam that's already paying off for me in just 5 workouts. CrossFit kicks ass. Anyone dissing it has never done it. It's not a substitute for other things, to each his own, but for the guy who said it would "get you laughed out of most gyms" is probably one of those at those "gyms" who wouldn't be able to handle most aspects of CrossFit.justincredible;1249108 wrote:You're upset about missing the thread and this is all you're going to contribute? Sheesh.
The best thing about it? It's variability. Anyone can incorporate the concept on their own, tailor it to their preferences and see benefit. It can be done outside. At home. At a gym. Anywhere there is some space. Outside of some standard equipment and time, you don't have to pay a dime.
