It's Apple, there would be build up for an event if they were just announcing the color of lint in their pocket.

    won't get #iphone until it's 4 - 4.3 inch screen

Now waiting for #sprintwireless conference 10/7, rumors of network upgrades about EvDO rev b, lte and iPhone talk.

4 is good, but the 4.5s are overkill for me. I just think that the iphones are to inferior spec wise. I like the screens and the interface is ok, but doesn't hold a candle to the newer droids

So now the real question is... all bias aside... which is the better phone?

    iPhone 4S or Bionic?

My points of interest (in priority)
    1. Speed (which one can download a webpage faster?)
    2. Battery life (which one will last longer?)
    3. Camera quality (which one will take crisper images?)
  • wes_mantooth
Bionic is better on most levels, but battery life won't be one of them
  • justincredible
Or camera. The 4S camera looks phenomenal.
  • Scarlet_Buckeye
So what about speed? I mean, 4G is faster than 3G, right? So Bionic?
  • wes_mantooth
Yeah, and it is much faster, but the trade off is shitty battery life.
  • gorocks99
Actually, the Bionic's battery life is a lot better than other 4G phones. It's not as good as the 4S, and you'll certainly drain the battery if you spend all day streaming video over 4G, but not many people do that.

    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_7-20104012-251/droid-bionic-impresses-with-long-battery-life/
The Droid Bionic delivered an average of 7 hours and 55 minutes talk time with 4G enabled. When we turned LTE off to go 3G only, we managed to squeeze out a very impressive 10 hours and 21 minutes talk time. We should note here that LTE is only used for data and not voice, so the latter is mostly to rid the possibility of background processes.

Anecdotally, the Droid Bionic performed well in day-to-day usage. From a fully charged phone at the start of the day, we surfed the Web, navigated with Maps, watched a few Flash video clips, checked e-mail, and used it as we would normally. By the end of the day, we had only used about 15 to 20 percent of the battery. We did this with the 4G LTE speeds enabled.

Yeah I just checked my battery use, I'm at 8 hours 26 minutes with pretty heavy use (outside of streaming video/music) and I still have 70% battery left.

but will it make phone calls...assuming you hold it properly to your ear?

They claim it has "intelligent antenna" which means it will swap between the two antennas in the phone to give you the best reception while making or receiving a phone call.

However, it doesn't matter to me. I probably TALK on my phone a total of an hour or so a month.

i must be doing it wrong then. i am at about 10-20% after 8 hours with minimal use and settings. i even kill the data for 6 of those hours after 15 minutes of inactivity.

    Damn, I'm good.

LMAO at everyone who had been hoping/expecting this to be 4G....CFO said months ago that wouldn't be the case.

For what IOS does, that's plenty of power, although the 3G is SOOOO yesterday tech. Gotta give them some credit, though, most of the Android manufacturers really don't put much thought into the camera and it's one of the few areas of hardware you can really differentiate on.

That's why I'm eagerly waiting on the Nokia Windows Phone devices. Because they have legendarily great build quality and there cameras are usually fantastic.

As a Sprint user, with the addition of the iPhone, I worry about the future of the true unlimited data plan.

No interest for me though, this is basically the same phone I have, just runs iOS instead of Android.

iPhone 5 should time up about right with my upgrade next summer, will have to reconsider then

I would be uneasy about that as well. I was in a few Sprint stores today, and there were tons of people calling about it after the announcement. The unlimited plan will not go anywhere to start with. Sprint is going to leverage the shit out of that because they will be the only one offering the iPhone with unlimited data. Once they see the strain on their network from the increased data load...that's when the worry about the unlimited plan going away will become real.

I agree, now that they have the iPhone, the unlimited plan is their distinguishing selling point.

I know you're a cell phone guy, would they grandfather me in if they cap the data plans? If not, I see no reason to stay with them.

lol...Nokia still makes worthwhile phones? I thought they only fucked with "pay as you go" phones these days.

Justin, where do you live in Cincy? No 4g? Im by campus, and I'm 4g/Wifi exclusively on my Evo. 3g is like dialup.
