I saw it in the theater and it wasnt that great. Very overrated flick.

Guardians was great, but how you can say it was better than The Avengers idk.

I must be one of those "must see at the theater" movies because I thought it was shit.
Gravity was awful. However, it was pretty awesome in terms of visual effects, but you kinda needed to see it in 3D and at the theaters. Other than that, it was terrible. Like 2 or 3 out of 10 terrible.

    This.

Because both were good, but one was only great. Enjoyed The Avengers but it is a cheesy Marvel movie. Guardians is the new Star Wars, if rocked.
  • bigdaddy2003
Eh, there were cheesy moments in Guardians as well.

This is not for arguing sake... literally just for pure informational purposes...

    Guardians Rotten Tomato score = 92% ... 7.7/10

    Avengers Rotten Tomato score = 92% ... 8/10

    Guardians IMDB = 8.8

    Avengers IMDB = 8.2

I expect the Guardians IMDB score to drop a little after the 'buzz' of it wears off. Both movies are VERY respectable.

We are literally splitting hairs here... but I do think the edge/nod has to go to The Avengers, especially when you stop and consider it was the first to do what it did.

I think we can all agree Guardians belongs in the same category as Avengers. My dad and I are constantly discussing the hierarchy of Marvel movies and Avengers has been at the top since it came out. It just had A LOT going for it. I won't be shocked if the sequels to both movies are in the same category.

Snowpiercer = 5/10, hard to review. It has that Asian "ambiguous ending" vibe and you have to check your brain in to watch it because there is no sense of reality. But Chris Evans was good and I'm glad we watched it. Wouldn't watch it again.

Lucy = 6.5 /10. Entertaining but sorta totally weird.

Seeing LAND HO!, THE NOVEMBER MAN, AS ABOVE, SO BELOW this month. Will let you know how they are.

TMNT was Ok I guess. Maybe a 5 or 5.5. Fox kept it a little interesting.
  • bigdaddy2003
Lucy is ok, nothing special. I've decided to skip Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Does Scarlett Jo get nekked in Lucy?

Lol no, that would have helped the movie though.

I know I'm late to the party on this one... but I caught Dawn of Planet of the Apes last night. I thought it was awesome... like 4.5 to 5 stars out of 5 awesome. The guy who voiced Caesar and the other guy who voiced Koba were amazing, especially Caesar. The CGI was really good... could barely tell. Yeah there were a few corny/cheesy moments in the film, but overall... I thought it was a very good film.
  • bigdaddy2003
The guy who does Caesar is Andy Serkis. He does Gollum in the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit films.

I may go see Expendables 3 today.

Into the Storm was bad, and I mean like 2 steps up from a Sy Fy channel movie.

Well there was that one movie he was in that was good, right?

Face Off, right? That was his greatest cinematographic performance. Movie was superb, also.

And at least back in that era, his movies like The Rock and Con Air were consistently entertaining (if mainly in the "turn brain off, sit down and watch the pretty explosions act as a substitute for actual plot" sort of way).

And then he entered the "No project is too stupid or bad for me to take!" mode which he has never left.

Con air was one of those movies that the first time you watched you though it was pretty solid, but a few years later....not so much.
  • Laley23
Con Air is awesome. But, Nick Cage is not the reason...but he at least didnt ruin it.

I guess Sin City 2 opened the weekend in 6th place. That seems crazy to me.
