Anyone Familiar with Avid Media Composer 4.0?

  • KevinJr
    I posted this over on the Avid help boards, but I haven't gotten much of a response. I thought I'd give it a shot here too:

    I recently installed Avid Media Composer 4.0 student edition for my laptop (system info: HP Pavillion 9500 Notebook PC, AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2GHz; 2.00 RAM, Windows Vista 32 bit processor). A lot of the filming I do is with an older Sony DCR-DVD 105 Handycam. Because of this, I have to rip the content off of my mini-discs and save them to my hard drive. When saved to my computer they are saved as .mpg files - which Avid doesn't support.

    However, I found a program (wmvconverter) that would convert the .mpg files to .wmv files. After converting the footage, I tried to import the new .wmv files, but an error came up that said:

    "WMAudioImportReaderError on execute"

    and then

    "WMAudioImportReaderError::~WMAudioReaderImportReader ()CONSISTANCY CHECK FAILURE !?!:[0]"

    I have used Avid MC several times before, but it has always been through my school where they use tapes and a capturing system. I'm not really sure how to alleviate this error.

    Also, I have yet to add another GB or two of RAM space (my system only allows me to run a bit over 2000), but I'm not sure if that's the reason it won't read correctly.

    Any help, insight, or advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
