St. John's Hires Steve Lavin

Pretty good hire for St. Johns although Lavin hasn't been coaching for the past 7yrs. Hate to see him leave announcing...REALLY liked listening to him on TV.

    I agree.

I heard him interviewed the first week of the tournament and he was asked if he ever thought about coaching again. Basically he said it would have to be the PERFECT fit for him; I really didn't expect him back.

I'll like him better in the East than at UCLA. I realize that he was in five out of six Sweet Sixteens with the Bruins but at UCLA, that's what everyone expects. St. Johns has been a little below their normal level for a few seasons so It should be interesting. I always considered him kind of a "Pretty Boy" at UCLA.

Hearing him do games, it's hard not tell the love he has for the game. So I knew it would be a matter of time before he started coaching again.

Hope this works out for him. It'd be nice to see the Johnnies do well again in the Big East and to see Lavin successful his second time out. He had a heck of a run out in Westwood but could never slip on by the Sweet 16. I believe he made seven in a row at one point.

I used to really like, enjoy watching St. Johns...but that was way back when Lou Carnesecca was the coach. Loved the guy! The year he had Chris Mullins and Walter Berry(85) they had one heck of a team, final four. Although overall, Lou's teams never did well in NCAA.
