March Madness is Great, But......

I also like it the way it is and pray that it isn't expanded to include 96 teams. I would just prefer that more star power be in the finals.
Here's how I look at it:

    1. Expanding to 96 teams ensures that over the long haul, LESS star power will be in the finals. Look at how many elite teams in conference tournaments lost this year because they had a bye (or two in the Big East, at least..poetrylol) and their opponent had to play and win to face them. Byes aren't necessarily good in this sport.

    2. Star power in the finals doesn't matter to me. I don't care about ratings (like CBS would); I care about good play. And you don't need lottery picks galore to provide a great college game. Just look at Michigan State. Four tightly-contested games that definitely grabbed my attention. And watching West Virginia take the Wildcat freshmen to school with some great passing and long-range shooting was awesome! And seeing a great team from a mid-major get respect as simply a great team has been fun to watch. And even if I don't like Duke one bit, I loved watching that game with Baylor. A contest like that (or really, any of the Elite 8 games) is what this thing is all about, as far as I'm concerned.

This has been one of the best tournaments I've ever seen. Great games going down to the final minute or overtime(s), crazy upsets, total unpredictability. As a college basketball fan, I've loved nearly every minute of this thing (with the exception of how the 'Cuse-Zags blowout with the ONLY televised game in its timeslot)...for me, this tournament has been awesome.

I still think Kansas and Kentucky should get together and play each other. It'd be a great game.

I have to say that the Butler-MSU game was basketball beauty. Who wouldn't enjoy watching a team win a game after going over 9 minutes between field goals. That's great basketball and fun to watch

Wouldn't you really rather see Kansas or Syracuse-vs-Duke. This game will be boring to watch, much like the MSU game.

I have never heard so many (supposedly) grown ass men whining about how terrible this game is going to be, and how they'd rather watch team A vs. team B , or team X and team Y should have made it. GET THE FUCK OVER IT. They lost. I'm an OSU fan, and I'm excited as hell to watch this game... And no, I would not rather see Syracuse/Kansas vs. Duke/Kentucky etc. I would rather see two teams who have won 5 games when they're supposed to, and who DID win those 5 games, instead of teams that couldn't beat Butler, Northern Iowa, and West Virginia. If you really think it's going to be that terrible, then don't watch. You'll be in the vast minority...but please go get yourselves a box of kleenex and cry your river in peace, and quit fucking up the good discussions that would otherwise be going on on these threads!

You think so?? I would bet this game doesn't draw big numbers.

I had to quit watching the Butler-/MSU game because it was painful to watch. Gordon Hayward might have been the only play maker on the floor.

Actually this thread is ALL about what kind of teams a person would prefer in the Final Four. You are free to start your thread to address any topic you wish.
