Ohio State Spring Practice Thread

charliehustle14The more I think about it, the more Carter pisses me off.
You're an OSU football player, so that right there gives you an edge with the professors (they're more lenient with due dates if you're a student athlete) And you're taking freshman classes which are general eds and Intros. If you put forth any kind of effort, you can pull off at least a C. -

LJThe rumor so far out of practice is that Storm Klein is pushing real hard on Rolle and Rolle may get bumped to the outside
-
Thunder70any idea how Stonebruner is doing?
-
charliehustle14
He's been doing fine from what I hear. His blocking has improved and there's never been a question about him being able to make plays...it's just that he's playing that dreaded TE position at OSU. I hope he gets involved more this year. It'd be nice to get 20-25 catches out of him and a couple TD's, but that's unlikely to happen with the way the offense works.Thunder70 wrote: any idea how Stonebruner is doing?
Other TE's, like Nic DiLillo and Reid Fragel, have also been looking good too.
Fragel is every bit of 6'8...wouldn't mind seeing that utilized down near the goal line. -

That'd be a good problem to have, for sure.LJ wrote: The rumor so far out of practice is that Storm Klein is pushing real hard on Rolle and Rolle may get bumped to the outside -

I'd be real cool with that, seeing as how Rolle isn't a true Mike, and Klein would probably come off the field in passing downs, so we really wouldn't lose any athleticism but add a true run stopper to the middle.charliehustle14 wrote:

se-alumWould love to see Rolle's speed on the outside.

Exactly what Homan provided us (run stopper) but now we can have him and Klein as run stoppers. Also read Sabino is getting work at the weakside spot as well as the rush end (think Spitler).LJ wrote:

i agree, but i was surprised that he even had academic problems with his dad being who he is and all...how could he let his son mess up that bad?devil1197 wrote: Carter will be back on the field as OSU's #3 imo. That will be the last mess up for Carter at OSU. -
thedynasty1998Anyone know anything about Chris Carter the person? Obviously he was a good football player, but it seems like everyone is thinking of him as this high character person and maybe it's not the case?
I don't know one way or another, but I'm not going to say I'm surprised young Carter is having problems just because his dad is a Buckeye great. -
ytownfootballCarter was attending when I was and had a few classes with him...he never led me to believe anything other than a solid student athlete. He didn't blow off classes, not do work etc.
One thing about Chris is that he appreciates his Buckeye heritage a lot. He is not happy the fruit of his loins is pissing away his opportunity. -
devil1197Just based on athleticism and skill, I'd like to see Rolle, Sabino, and Homan as the starting LB's this season.

Must have poor study skills or not use his time outside of class and practice wisely then.ytownfootball wrote: Carter was attending when I was and had a few classes with him...he never led me to believe anything other than a solid student athlete. He didn't blow off classes, not do work etc.

Sorry Charlie...I'm referring to Duron's old man Chrischarliehustle14 wrote:

darbypitcher22My father coached Cris when he was in HS and then followed his career as a Buckeye.
Cris had a wild side in HS that got him in trouble a few times, but he always seemed to manage to learn from it and move on. He had a very successful carreer and I'm sure he's all over Duron to get back on the grades -
LJSo basically everything I have been reading has said that LT is wide open and Adams is not the front runner for the position.
That leads me to believe that being suspended last year had no bearing on his playing time. -
charliehustle14I wish Adams would get it together some time soon.

Klein is going to be a real solid buckeye for OSU before it's all said and done. I don't know if he'll ever reach the level of an AJ Hawk or JL, but I'm telling you I've watched the kid play since 6th grade and he's got the best ball instincts I've ever seen out of a defensive player (and I watched Rob Kelly, another former Buckeye, play in HS). As the poster above said, it's a good problem to have.lhslep134 wrote:

darbypitcher22Adams has not even attempted to sew up that job since he stepped on campus. Sure he was injured and some other things, but he hasn't played all that well to really deserve it eithr
-
thedynasty1998Yea, everyone seems to want to see Adams step up and get the starting spot. Well I for one don't care whether he plays or not, as long as the coaches can find a productive LT. I think they are heading in a direction that leads me to believe that Shugarts and Miller are the contenders at LT and Hall will be the RT.
-
devil1197Hall needs to be on the field, he is very good and showed what he could do last season.
Shugarts has been solid, but Adams just hasn't caught on like the other OL guys in his class.
When the season starts though OSU will have one of THE best OL groups in the country imo. Everyone saw what they were capable of in the last half of the season after getting healthy. 200+ yards rushing almost every game. -
Scarlet_Buckeye
False statement. You cannot possibly have "THE best OL group in the country" when Bryant Browning is part of that list.devil1197 wrote: When the season starts though OSU will have one of THE best OL groups in the country imo.
