Jon Scheyer (All American) vs Jon Diebler (much maligned)
-
september63Scheyer is an All American Sr and Diebler is a JR. Are these two players that much different? According to nbadraft.net Scheyer wont even get drafted in this years draft. Diebler does get drafted in thhe 2nd round of the 2011 draft. www.nbadraftnet.com

mattinctownWhat a surprise, an anti-Scheyer/Duke thread.
-
SportsAndLadyNo fucking way Diebler gets drafted..LOL

CinciX12Kind of like OSU with Sienna last year?! Christ your guy's act towards Kansas is getting old.
-
TheMightyGators
agreed. Diebler isn't sniffing the NBA.SportsAndLady wrote: No fucking way Diebler gets drafted..LOL -
CinciX12No one from Florida will either. Go back in your hole.

september63Read the link I posted. Tell me what it says about Scheyer being drafted this year? Tell me what it says about Diebler being drafted next yrar?
How sad is it that Jon Scheyer isnt even projected to get drated? -
SportsAndLady
Does everyone see what I mean? I mean I swear to God I can't make one comment without someone mentioning Kansas lol and they won the title two years ago!!!Pick6 wrote:

SQ_CraziesDiebler has no future in the NBA. Much like a lot of overhyped Ohio State recruits lately.
-
Laley23This thread makes little to no sense. Sheyer and Diebler are not even close to the same players, so why are we comparing them? Just cause they are white??? lol.
-
trackandccrunnerScheyer > Diebler. I don't care right now what either will do in the NBA. In college basketball right now only a huge OSU homer/Duke hater would take Diebler over Scheyer. And Laley I agree they are not the same type of player but Scheyer is the better player overall.

hoops23To say Diebler has NO shot at the NBA is a little foolish. He definitely has a "shot"..
Mainly because he can shoot. If he has an outstanding senior year, there will be an NBA team who either drafts him, invites him to the summer league or signs him to a D-League affiliate.
From some sites I've seen, he's been projected as a 2nd rounder for next years draft. -
swamisezIf Diebler were on television as much as Jon Scheyer, I think he wouldn't be on any draft boards either.
It seems the longer a player is around, the more "draft experts" seem to find fatal flaws that somehow lessen their ability to play in the league.
Unfair, but true. Diebler, with more exposure, will draw the ire of many as they see his game. He does many things very very well, but sadly the only thing draft experts see is what they don't have. Which is why players like Darko, Gallinari, Yi Jianlian, etc get taken in the lottery and players like Scheyer and Diebler are forced to tryout for clubs. In the end Darko, Gallinari, and Yi are no better than Scheyer and Diebler but because the aforementioned were virtual unknowns they were drafted on potential. With american college players the jury makes a decision and rules them out based on their viewership. -
lhslep134Scheyer won't translate to the NBA, but give me the option of who I'd rather have on my team, and I say Scheyer every single freaking day of the week. Dude just knows how to put it in the hoop on his own in the college ranks, something Diebler hasn't been able to figure out yet.

Who said he has no shot?LTrain23 wrote: To say Diebler has NO shot at the NBA is a little foolish. He definitely has a "shot"..

I said he has no future in the NBA, he'll get a chance, but he won't be there long--if he ever even plays in the league. He'll get a shot because he'll be in position to make a roster at some point--but he's not going to have a career there.
I don't think Scheyer will either. -
SQ_CraziesLook at Redick. Scheyer and Diebler are similar types of players--as far as the NBA is concerned they're very similar, and Redick is 10 times better than either of them. He's hardly had a career.

A couple of people above said "No way Diebler sniffs the NBA".. I'd translate that as them saying he has no shot, wouldn't you?SQ_Crazies wrote:

SQ_CraziesNot really, I take that as people meaning you won't see him playing on Sunday afternoons. Everyone knows (or should know) that any player that wants a shot gets one these days. Summer leagues, D-league, scouts all over Europe. If you're good enough they'll find you. I think by saying he won't sniff the NBA, they're basically saying the same thing I said--he has no future in the league. He'll get a chance, I'll be very surprised if he gets many minutes ever, if any. To be honest, I'll be pretty surprised if he makes a roster, but if he improves and impresses as a shooter, then he could find a spot.
He does still have time to improve. -
thedynasty1998Diebler has maybe a 1% chance of a NBA team even inviting him to their summer league team. The guy is just way too one dimensional for the NBA. It's an absolute joke that anyone would think otherwise. If he could dribble a little, then yes maybe. If he could defend a little, yes maybe. If he could do anything else to help a team contribute, then yes maybe.
But he's absolutely worthless if he's not making shots. -
killer_ewokWhat is it with you and this link?
Go ahead, everybody....click on it. They don't have Diebler getting picked.

Pick6ever heard of jj reddick? a pretty similar player to diebler.
-
PrescottThis is a silly thread. I'm anti-duke , but Scheyer brings much more to the table than Diebler does.Sceyer has played the point effectively all year long. When Singler was struggling, Scheyer carried the dukies offensively. Diebler is a complimentary player who will not be drafted. Scheyer may get drafted late in the 2nd.

Pick6In college maybe..bottom line is they still do the same thing. Shoot the ball and thats it.
