  Billy Donovan has been linked to Oregon, Tubby Smith to Auburn, Paul Hewitt to St John's -- post any other rumors you hear here as well. I have a feeling dominos will start falling as soon as Oregon and/or St. John's get their man.

  I hear they're gonna throw about $3 mil at their next coach, whoever that is. And yes, if Few doesn't take that and the new $200 million area, he'll never leave the Zags.

  Oregon is such a strange situation to me. In my opinion they don't seem to be one of the "Big Boys", yet, they have as nice of facilities as anyone in the country, a beautiful campus and the backing of Phil Knight.
  
  I just don't really understand how they are not a top program in every single sport with Nike being right there handing them anything they ask for.

  I agree 100%. I was talking to a few of the Oregon media guys during the Rose Bowl and we were talking about this same issue, and they all thought it had to do with coaching and nothing else. One of the student radio guys told me that their football practice facility and other football stuff is UNREAL, and I can see it being better than OSU's, as hard as that is to believe.

  Very easy to see why Oregon's facilities are better than OSU's.

  Also look for Butler coach Brad Stevens to get some major attention in the off-season. For all I know, he's happy with the program he has continued to build and the young talent he has on his roster, but the facts still remain: 86 wins versus 14 losses, 3 NCAA tourney wins, a Sweet 16, three conference titles and two 30-victory seasons in three years. Take that Mark Few.
  
  He's the next big thing folks, and he's only Larry Bird (33). If he should beat Syracuse on Thursday and advance to an Elite Eight, or even the Final Four, his stock will be as hot as any coach in the country who's currently in a possible transitional position (guys like Calipari, unless he jumped to the NBA again, Coach K and Bill Self don't count).
  
  Iowa may zone in on him, and even Minnesota if Tubby leaves for the SEC. But if I were Stevens, I'd look the other way. For now. Who knows what other options could be looming in the next several years. Perhaps Indiana if Crean doesn't turn things around ... Notre Dame ... Michigan ... Florida ... Georgia Tech ... NC State ... Lots of possibilities, although it's certainly up for debate as to how well Stevens would fit in with each program.

  Whoever lands the Oregon job is the winner.
  
  Whoever lands St. Johns is landing a great job, imo. Being able to tell recruits they will play half their games at Madison Square Garden, will bring in some talent, if the coach is respectable.

  There is also some buzz in ACC country that Tubby Smith may be heading to Atlanta if Georgia Tech's Paul Hewitt lands the St. John's job.
  
  According to news reports, Hewitt is scheduled for an interview in New York sometime this week. Interesting stuff, to say the least.

  Auburn has hired UTEP's Tony Barbee. Great hire for them IMO.

  Still a young guy, only 39. Played for Calipari at UMass, worked there for a year, coached for 4 more and then was an assistant at Memphis for 7 seasons. The guy put together a nice roster at UTEP, which has 3 or 4 pros and a couple guys who might be potential top 15-25 picks. He can recruit, and his style is pretty exciting.
  
  As for the next level, who knows. The next level for Auburn is pretty far off. Is he better than Anthony Grant or Mark Fox, both of who have better jobs? I'm not sure. However, I think he's enthusiastic and really has something to prove, and he will be handed the keys at Auburn. New arena, a state that produces great talent, but a pretty bare roster. We will see.

  I liked what I saw from UTEP in the few games I saw this year of them.
  
  BTW, I have no idea what the next level for Auburn is. I just know they aren't to it yet ... lol

  I think the next level for Auburn would be just making the NCAA tournament once in a while. And I think Barbee can definitely get them there.

  I thought UTEP was talented but not sure they were all that well coached.
  
  Sloppy in important possessions against Houston and Butler and they didn't adjust very well to Butler's offense, leaving a ton of wide open 3s.
  
  Barbee probably has a good chance to bring in talent to Auburn, which could be enough to get them to tournament caliber.

  Honestly, I think that would be one of the worst hires they could possibly make. Why would you bring a guy who can't recruit to New York City to play in the Big East? It makes no sense.

  Seton Hall to hire Iona coach Kevin Willard. He did a good job with an Iona team that went 2-28 the year before he took over, but I'm not sure he's ready for that jump yet.

  And St. John's will be interviewing Steve Lavin. I think that would be a good hire. He's a great recruiter, and even though he didn't win huge at UCLA he did have them in the Sweet 16 just about every year. Would be a definite step up for St. John's.

  Lavin at St. Johns seems like the perfect fit. I've always liked Lavin as an analyst and wondered why he never got back into coaching. I think St. Johns is a good fit for him, being in NYC and with his charisma I think he could really get some players.

  Heard on the radio today that Donnie Jones is leaving Marshall for the job at UCF. I think that would be tough to move within the conference.
