Player You Didn't Know Much About Before The Tourney That You Love Now?

  • Upper90
I'm a pretty avid fan, but I didn't know too too much about Omar Samhan before the tourney. I'd seen him play twice, I think. One time, he had a bad game, and the other time, he dominated. But, still. I'm more impressed with his game now than I ever was. Not sure if he's a great NBA prospect, but he's a force inside. I legitimately think that he can carry St. Mary's to the Final Four.

St. Mary's guards are amazing as well. I knew that, though.

Thought for sure you were going with the mutton chopped O'Rear, but yeah Samhan is a pretty good choice. I will say though that he appeared to me to lack a bit in the humility department. It's the tournament, no need to get into trouble with antics. Not a big deal, just something I noticed.

Oh yeah, Samhan definitely could stand to dial it down a notch, no doubt.

Also another good choice, one that I knew little of. Would you have felt the same had he missed the open three with 30 on the shot clock though? That was all guts, love seeing that in the tourney, but that was 2" from possibly turning out very badly.

Probably not. But he did make it and I'm surprised that they make shorts big enough to cover those cantaloupes. Love the behind-the-back pass that he made earlier in the game too. Just enjoyed watching him play.

Either way people were going to remember him for it.

35 seconds left up 1 i think against the number 1 seed and actually takes the threeball and makes it. guts! this is what the tourney is all about.

Faroukmanesh was pretty well-known if you follow the Missouri Valley. One of those guys the other schools hate, unless he is on your team. He is a pretty cocky, outlandish player, but his talent has been able to back it up.

Samhan has been good for 3+ years, definitely a guy who should get some consideration for 1st-team All-American. I remember I posted him in comparison to Evan Turner in the "Turner for POY thread" and had a few responses saying he should be discredited because of the league he plays in. Where are those people now?

Faroukmanesh's shot, though not as deep (but certainly as dramatic), will go down with TJ Sorrentine's as one of the great images in the history of the tournament.

The Sorrentine call is one of my favorites ever. "From the parking lot!"

    Haha.

Hey, I did hunt down that cool Rautins quote for you. I'm not totally pro Vermont. Unlike MSNBC, I'm fair and balanced. :D

I didnt think Ali's shot was a bad shot at all, even if he had missed it. They were going to have to shoot at some point regardless...why not take a wide open 3 with your best, most clutch player? It certainly took guts, because most guys just back it out, but it was a smart shot regardless.

Jordan Crawford. I knew of him, but didn't see much of him until the tournament. Special player.
