Fly4FunHis teams continually underachieve in the tournament it seems. He needs to be fired.

I was thinking the same thing. The Big Ten, in comparison to the other major conference, is pretty bad.krambman wrote: Is it possible that they aren't underachieving? Maybe the Big Ten is just a lot worse than anyone realizes, or maybe this team is built well for the regular season and the Big Ten, but doesn't have the type of players to compete on the national stage. It's possible. -
WriterbuckeyeThe Big Ten is down of late, but it wasn't that long ago that Purdue won it all and made several Final Fours.
Foster needs to retire -- now.
He routinely misses out on top 50 players produced in Ohio and, by all accounts, has next to no relationship with the high school coaches in Ohio. They don't exactly clamor to send their kids to play for him.
Ohio State's women's program is a sleeping giant.
If they can get the right coach here, they can not only continue to win Big Ten titles, but start adding trips to the Final Four and a national title or two within a very short time.
Ohio produces outstanding high school talent almost every year, and Foster and his staff don't do a very good job of keeping it at home. Take a look at the list of top Ohio players over the past 10 years or so and it becomes real obvious.
Put a top coach at the head of the women's program and you will see the same kind of results you're seeing in football and men's basketball -- and the program will also be more than paying for itself in a short period of time.
The year after OSU went to the national title game with Katie Smith, OSU AVERAGED nearly 10,000 fans per game. There is no reason why that level cannot be reached and/or exceeded by putting the right coach in charge and marketing the program.
Right now, OSU does nothing to market the games. -
Fab1bWow just saw the Buckeye Ladies dropped another early tourny game

LeonardoI also agree Foster needs to be fired.

HereticAs do I. The record speaks for itself. Six years in the tourney, five losses to inferior seeds. MSU made a good run in the first half to take a double-digit lead. OSU didn't remotely make a run at them in the second. Hell, the OU men got back within 4-5 points on Tennessee before falling behind by 20 and losing by 15 on Saturday. OSU women were stuck at an approximately 10-point deficit consistently until completely collapsing towards the end. If you can't even make a decent run at a team considered at or below your level (which the 2-vs-7 seeding would indicate)...you're not being well-coached. They were sloppy and error-prone all night...Foster seemed to be in a "no biggie; things will pick up" mindset from the way he acted.

I'll just quote myself here.ptown_trojans_1 wrote: I don't see them even facing UCONN. Sadly, the women have a history of completely choking in the tournament.
Foster needs to go. He is great to get them to the tournament and Big Ten titles, but huge failure in the tournament. -
gerb131Wow they got drilled. And I agree with everyone posting, he needs to go and with the right coach they could be back to the Katie Smith days.

This tends to be how it works in women's hoops. If one team get's on a roll and builds a double digit lead, the other team almost never comes back in the women's game. Not sure why that is, but you just don't see the comebacks like you in the men's game.Heretic wrote: As do I. The record speaks for itself. Six years in the tourney, five losses to inferior seeds. centralbucksfanFoster just isn't a good NCAA tourney coach, period. Thats obvious. Will he get fired? No way. How can you fire a guy with his Big Ten record, overall record? OSU is STUCK with him..they have no basis to fire the guy.
Retirement is our only hope and its unlikely that happens anytime soon. The guy has taken OSU womens bball as far as he can...and is unable to get them over the hump. -
thedynasty1998I don't think they will fire him, but don't think they don't have any basis to fire him. Cooper was fired because he couldn't beat Michigan. This is similar, although on a much smaller scale.
I don't know if enough people care about women's basketball for them to fire him. Gene Smith is obviously ambitious and wants the best athletic department in the country, if he thinks he can improve it with another coach, I wouldn't put it past him. -

Well, I think u hit it with the not enough people care. On top of that, I really don't believe Smith/OSU can put themselves out there and fire a guy who has won how many Big Ten titles in a row. (although the big ten is weak in womens hoops). The naitonal backlash for that would not bode well for Smith or OSU. Foster has a phenom record...just poor in NCAA. I just don't think thats enough fire power for OSU to can the guy.thedynasty1998 wrote: I don't think they will fire him, but don't think they don't have any basis to fire him. thedynasty1998I agree with you that not enough people care. However, I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if he was fired.
