Why I like Bill Self

  • Prescott
...."Look, everybody here in the upper echelon of college basketball can coach," Self says. "Everybody. And everybody works hard. And everybody has good kids. I really don't like it when I hear people talk about all that stuff, how good a coach someone is or how hard they work or whatever. Everybody's doing that. That's not what it's about."........

I think you are missing the point.
Look, everybody here in the upper echelon of college basketball can coach,

He understands that coaching basketball isn't rocket science and there are a lot guys who do it very well.

I've always liked him and thought he was a classy guy. Heard him on Mike and Mike this morning and they asked him about basically getting the toughest draw for a #1, and he handled it really well.

And others don't understand this? I am sure almost everyother coach thinks the samething. Thats why its extremely difficult to just point out one, two, three or four who are the best coaches. There are quite a few VERY GOOD coaches out there. Some that we do not ever hear about who don't have the opportunity to be on the big stage and do what guys like Self are doing.

Many fans don't understand this. How many threads have we seen debating who the BEST coach is?

While he was at Illinois, he was all class too. I just wish he hadn't left U of I. I like Weber and all...but Self was on a whole different level. He recruited the entire 2005 National Runner-Up team (that Weber coached).
