Turner Named The Sporting News POY
-
Heretic
Well, you're doing good in educating us "homers", I must admit. Agreeing that a Buckeye player who was just named POY by one major publication (and is his conference's POY) isn't as good as we think he is...and then bringing up football examples to "prove" your point.cats gone wild wrote:Bandwagoning......lol!!
And I would rather stay on this site educating OSU homers and making you miserable. Carry on troll. My post was the truth but you cant handle the truth.
I honestly don't know how any of us can continue posting about Ohio State's basketball team and/or Evan Turner now that you've so effectively put us in our place.
-
WriterbuckeyeHe's going to end up winning most of the major national player of the year awards -- but he's not as good as we think he is.
Alllllllllllrighty then. -
reclegend22Vasquez, in the end, definitely was a good choice for ACC POTY. I love the kid's heart and his game even more, and he had one hell of a finish to the conference season, so I was fine with him winning that award over Scheyer. But Greivis didn't start to play really well until late in the season, and this is a nationally recognized honor. As Jason Williams did over Jaun Dixon in the NPOTY race in 2002 (after Dixon had beaten Williams out for the ACC POTY award), I think Scheyer should have been given the nod in this year's First Team All-American voting. Scheyer has had the better overall year, especially outside the conference, on a national level. This isn't to say this can't still happen on the Naismith, Wooden and NABC All-American lists, however.
Not sure why TSN is giving out awards to five All-American teams here (25 players in all), but Kyle Singler got the nod for the fifth team. I'm not sure there's any real point for naming a fifth team All-American roster, but cool that two Devils' were named nonetheless. Scheyer was a second teamer. -
cbus4lifeThe refreshing thing is that, if you read Catspause, most UK fans are being very respectful of Turner and the majority even think he deserves it over Wall.
CGW reflects poorly on every fan base he claims to represent. -
Cleveland BuckCGW is a Kentucky fan? LOL. Kentucky basketball, SEC football, I assume Yankees, Lakers, and now the Saints as well.
-
Fly4FunThe fact that CGW is a Kentucky basketball fan and LSU football fan just proves what a huge bandwagon fan he is.... it's not even deniable.
-
Azubuike24Isn't it ironic that the name-calling and bandwagon accusations only start when someone becomes arrogant, irrational and at-times, delusional?
I don't have a problem with CGW, but I've seen many of his posts on the football and basketball forum that definitely fit one of those 3 attributes.
Your best bet is to just root for who you want and don't be a dick about it. You won't get nearly as much crap. There are many other posters on here with different rooting interests that might not make sense to everyone, but if they just post with some decency and respect, nobody would really care. -
ytownfootball^^^don't forget baiting^^^
-
Azubuike24That too. Point being, very few people care who you root for as long as you do it in a respectful and knowledgeable manner.
-
ytownfootballAgree. Sorry, couldn't help but add that.
-
reclegend22From what I can gather of the trespassing professions, moral justification and philanthropic efforts he clearly demonstrates, I would say that CGW probably actually does believe he's a cat.

ND Football
IU Basketball
Pacers and to an extent the Cavs
Colts (Browns also, but they werent around when I got into the NFL)
Red Wings
Indians -
reclegend22You could try to accuse me of bandwagoning but you wouldn't get far (outside of perhaps Duke, I guess, but I've gone over why I am a Blue Devil fan numerous times here ... started attending Coach K Camp when I was young and grew up watching guys like Laettner and Collins with my Dad, who has been a Duke fan since K's beginning. I've been a Duke fan since I was in kindergarten).
Duke Basketball
Indiana Pacers
Miami Dolphins
My all-time favorite athletes:
J.J. Redick, Reggie Miller, Dan Marino, Charles Barkley
Aside from Duke (10 years ago), about how many titles can you count up between the organizations and players above? Um, zero
I'm not much into professional sports anymore, though, so I don't really discuss them here too often. -
Big Gain
We're not making him out to be. College coaches are, basketball talent evaluators for NBA teams are. Other players are.gibby08 wrote: He's a good player..don't get me wrong
But he IS NOT AS GOOD as many of you make him out to be
Who are you? What is your claim of credibility to say he, "IS NOT AS GOOD"...... -
hoops23I'm a bigger UNC fan in bball than OSU fan, as I've stated why...
And I think Evan Turner is the best player in the country, bar none..
John Wall is up for discussion, no doubt, as are a couple others.. But nobody can sit at their computer and type out a player who meant more to a team than ET did..
The "Villain" was simply on another level.. He's the poor mans LeBron because he does EVERYTHING. Need some points? He'll get that.. Need some boards? He'll bring those in... Need somebody to run the offense? No problem! Need somebody to play some tough defense? He'll do that too...
I just don't get fans of other teams who come in and try to trash this guy when it's obvious he IS as good as everybody claims.. Definitely one of the better college players of the last couple years.. -
cviewNo Scheyer on the first team? As much as I hate Duke I thought he'd get the nod. Hard to bump anyone off though. Turner and Wall will be on everyone's first team. After that I'm sure they'll vary a bit.

Bingo! Unfortunately CATS is far from respectful and even ignorant at times. I mean, claiming he has rarely watched Turner or OSU, then making assumptions that he isn't that good or as good as some think? This when just about everyone across the country thinks differently? Thats just flat out STUPID and doing nothing but stirring the pot.Azubuike24 wrote: That too. Azu, you and I don't always agree on things...but you are by far one of the more respectful, knowledgable posters on here.....so although I don't always agree....I certainly respect your opinions and thoughts. And there are others who fall into this category as well. Then there are..... -

HISTORRRY!!!!! This is about college BASKETBALL!cats gone wild wrote:
YOu are on a Ohio based forum, what else would you expect. Remember the Bucks were going to crush Florida, LSU and USC according to these goons and TP was going to win Heisman last year and is a favorite next year.gibby08 wrote:

Yeah I thought that as well. I think Maryland vs Duke sent Scheyer off first team and put Vazquez on first team. Id knock Reynolds off first from the guys on there and add Wesley Johnson. Then Scheyer and Cousins would be next in line for a spot.cview wrote: No Scheyer on the first team? As much as I hate Duke I thought he'd get the nod. Hard to bump anyone off though. WriterbuckeyeThe nicest part about Turner getting these awards, for me, is pretty simple: the guy is a total class act who has worked very hard, is a team player to the end, and has represented himself, his university with complete and utter dignity.
He is one of my favorite Buckeyes of all time. -
reclegend22Not that it matters, but, off the court, Turner is a pretty classy kid? Link?
Just kidding. Pretty cool that he's that type of representative for the university. Good to see in college basketball. Here's a great story on Maryland ACC POTY Greivis Vasquez and the impact he's having on his community.
