I'd guess he was referring to Izzo considering he said "isn't even top 10 paid".. matta IS top 10Laley23 wrote:

centralbucksfanWhat is missing with this article is all the hidden $$$. What is listed is only salary and bonus money. Add in TV, Radio along with Nike/Adidas or whomever...then things tend to change quite a bit.
I am sure when its all said and done, Izzo is getting what is deserved. -
hoops23I know Izzo gets a ton of stuff from Nike... Been to one of his coaching camps a couple summers ago. We all got Nike shoes/gear...

No, all of that stuff is included in coaching contracts. I've seen coach Tressel's contract and the university shells out less than a million dollars a year to him (or at least they used to). The rest of his $3+ million comes from TV/radio and endorsement deals written into his contract. There's no way OSU is paying all $2.25 million of Matta's contract. Not even close.centralbucksfan wrote: What is missing with this article is all the hidden $$$. What is listed is only salary and bonus money. Agree with this. Look at some coaching contracts and you will see the actual salary is generally pretty low. This number most likely includes all the extra monetary compensation. Some of the hidden stuff could include non-monetary benefits that can definitely be pretty expensive. Things such as uses of a charter plane, housing, meal benefits, etc...a lot of it adds up over a year to often times just as much or more value than the actual money.krambman wrote:

I'd venture to say that Calipari makes almost double that in value when you consider that he has a private plane that allows him to basically travel anywhere in the country on a whim. He will take recruiting trips to the west coast for a few hours and then come back in the same night. -

He was given a raise after this as well.
