Last night they broke their own record with their 71st straight win. Every win in this streak has come by double digits and the average margin of victory is 33 points! They are possibly well on their way to not only breaking UCLA's men's record of consecutive wins, but smashing it. I'm convinced that the best team UCONN faces all year is themselves in practice. The streak itself is impressive, but the fact that they are able to go out there every game with the determination and hungry to not only win, but win big, is the most impressive part, and speaks to just how good of a coach Gino Auriemma is. My hat's off to Auriemma and these ladies for what they are accomplishing.

It is impressive, no doubt. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but it's quite the commentary on the talent disparity in women's hoops, and speaks to it's relative unpopularity in the US (as in, why watch the tournament when the outcome is 99% decided beforehand?). That said, congratulations to these women, what they are accomplishing is nothing short of amazing.

You know what the funny thing is? Geno said the team that set the record, with Taurasi and Sue Bird(4 of the 1st 6 picks in the WNBA draft that year came off of that team) would probably beat this team

Why wouldnt he? Gives them at least something else to play for.

Everyone else--- it's not even close.

Look at it this way. OSU women won 30 games this year. They probably would lose to UCONN by 20. UCONN would probably beat the bottom feeder schools in the other big six onferencees by 50-70 points. Would that really happen in the men's game? Would Syracuse or Kansas beat Penn State by 50? Not very likely.

UCONN women would crush our OSU. You are correct. The average of victory during the 71 game streak is 32.3! Compare to UCLA mens 88 game streak, which was also an impressive 22.5!

Nebraska is also undefeated in women's hoops this year (which no one seems to realize) and UCONN will probably beat them by 20 in the title game.

A good point in that they face better competition daily in practice. The disparity in talent is just ridiculous in women's hoops. With that said, Auriemma might have the best job in America. The program recruits itself at this point and when you have that much more talent than anyone else, coaching comes easy.

Speaking of Auriemma, it seems like Calhoun may be done with the UCONN men after this season, and I was wondering if the school would offer to position to Auriemma. I think that he has deserved to be offered the job, but I don't think he'd take it, but if I were him, I'd use it to get a new contract that pays me more than the new men's coach.

Id say coaching all of the best HS players in the country might be easier, but not easy. He somehow molds these girls into playing team basketball every year. Every one of them comes in as maybe the best girl in her state, and he gets them all to play together. Some accepting role player status.

The most talent surely doesnt win in Mens basketball every year.

What's even more scary is that their 3rd best player is playing for Delaware. Had it not been for her getting homesick, Elena Delle Donne would be at UConn still. She is averaging 27(leading scorer in the nation) and 9 in her first year(redshirt Frosh) at Delaware.

I'm not really impressed because UCONN has done this before.. There is no disparity in womens college basketball.. You'll have some years where UCONN an UT are battling it out, but other than that, there really are no true threats..

I think UNC last won a national championship in womens hoops back in the early 90's..

The Connecticut women are 87-1 in their last 88 games. The last time they won a game by less than 10 points was March 11th, 2008 against Louisville in the Big East Championship.
