West Virginia vs Villanova

Villanova up 21-15 with 2:30 left in the first half...and people call the Big Ten games boring
  • BlackDog
Ohio State would have a hard time getting by either one of these "boring" teams in the tournament.
  • ttocs14
I'm not denying they are good teams, just saying this has been a very slow paced and sloppy game so far = boring

It is boring, and ugly. That doesn't mean either team is a bad team.

When you have 16 1st half points, there is nothing nicer to say than boring and ugly.

    My point, thank you

Not that the two teams' talent are really that comparable, but WVU's finish to this season after having been ranked so high reminds me of Wake's finish to the season a year ago. The Mountaineers are going to be a prime victim for a first or second round upset, IMO. They may even come back and beat Nova today, but WVU is way too inconsistent and reliant on great shooting. Much like Georgetown.

I understand where you're coming from but I don't think they run the risk of an early entry like the teams you mentioned. The main reason is WVU has the athleticism to get to the rim when not shooting well unlike Wake and Duke a couple years ago. Butler is a hell of a player that has the ability to take over games, plus they are going to be seeded high enough to have some pretty favorable matchups in the first couple rounds.

WVU has been pretty consistent all season. They play some of the worst 20 minutes of basketball and then turn around and play lights out the second 20 minutes. Been like that all year pretty much.

West Virginia up 53-52 with 3 and a half minutes left

THE worst officiated game ive seen in a long time. The calls were bad for both teams. No excuse for officiating this ugly.
  • slingshot4ever
    ^^^^

Yeah, and all calls at the end of the game have been in Villanova's favor. Including that one. PATHETIC.
  • wes_mantooth
    lol...these officials are awful.
  • slingshot4ever
I love how Jay Bilas said on gameday that Nova deserved a one seed if Duke went down. Nova doesnt even deserve a 2 seed.

The BE has been like that all season for some reason. They were decent last year, but they have been beyond abysmal this year.
  • september63
The refs spend most of the game calling tick tack fouls and now guys are running over one another. I dont think the calls are favoring either, just bad all around.

WVU just executed the worst last 10 seconds ever in a tie game. Ill assume they were out of TO's?

Are you kidding? Very strong RPI, only 5 loses. No bad loses. 4 of 5 loses on the road. If they win the BE tourney they will be right in the thick of things for a #1 seed and at the very least get a #2.
  • slingshot4ever
When WV finihses them off in OT they won't even be a top 10 team in the polls anymore.
  • reclegend22
I agree with Laley. I want WVU to win, only because Nova is a legit contender right now for that fourth one.
  • september63
Villanova a #1 seed? They are currently 9th in the country. They have no shot at a #1 seed.
  • reclegend22
They most certainly had a shot at a one.

    No longer, however.

[Insert a really, really annoying september comment with exclamation points here .. he may already have posted it.]

Last shot by Reynolds wasn't going to count anyways. At least it shouldn't have. Duke, OSU/Purdue and KState all have a good shot now at the final #1.
  • slingshot4ever
I think it is down to Duke and OSU for the last 1 seed. KSU has a remote shot, but needs a lot of help.

They were 4-4 their last 8 games. Including today 4-5. They had no chance at a #1 seed closing the reg season playing .500 ball the past 3 weeks.
  • Laley23
You guys are nuts. They dont really have a chance anymore, but they were a sure fire bet to be in the discussion before this game.

You dont ACTUALLY think if they won the BE tourney they would still be considered 7th do you. I mean, the fact that you look at the polls for where a team should be placed on the seed line is bad enough, but to actually think Nova would be considered only the 7th best team in the nation after winning the BE tourney is nuts.

Had they done that, people would be claiming that they were more deserving of Duke even if Duke won the ACC Tourney (not me, but people would).

No way does Vill get a #1 seed after this HOME loss. They will be a #2.

Laley, what you need to realize, that the committee does NOT put much weight into the conference tourneys. They are a small part of the seeding process. The main body of work, is the regular season.
