Why is Gameday at Duke?

Im surprised it took so long for someone to say this. I agree that Freedom Hall should have been the only place that could have been considered for Gameday today besides being at CIS.The_Crosby_Show wrote: Isn't today the last basketball game at Freedom Hall??? If so, ti should've been there. -
mattinctownA Carolina-Duke matchup bothers you???? Let me take you back to 1996. Duke ended up 13-18 on the year, UNC had Jamison and Stackhouse. Game ended up 102-100, and was one of the best Duke-UNC games in history. Yeah, UNC blows this year, but that means nothing as far as this rivalry is concerned. It draws ratings no matter what the records of the teams are. Also, as Rec stated, Gameday determines these at the beginning of the year. You may not like it, but that's how it is. Duke-Carolina were both Top 10 at the beginning of the year, it's not their fault Carolina blows. This is a NATIONAL rivalry game, that's why ESPN is there and not at West Virginia or Louisville.

ohiotiger33They come up with these dates in like October. It would seem like a slam dunk (no pun intended) in the pre-season. Why are people arguing about this. Of course it isn't a great matchup, but they do it differently in bball (for whatever reason).

That game was on CBS wasnt it? Thus gameday couldnt be there.trackandccrunner wrote:

Gotcha. Well they could have technically had it there then. BUT, Im guessing the ACC refused to move the time of UNC-Duke from the traditional 9pm slot meaning ESPN had to keep it there.trackandccrunner wrote:

reclegend22I'm assuming that even though it was on ESPN, the game and festivities that surrounded Freedom Hall's final game as home to the Louisville Cardinals were planned at the time they were some time in advance. And, as Laley stated previously, GameDay (in college basketball) attends that Saturday's premier evening game (either the 8 or 9 pm game).
