Sucks. I liked being able to watch Big Ten bowls back-to-back-to-back on New Year's Day.

That makes no sense. Hopefully both fields are in good condition so SEC fans won't have an excuse for when one (or both) of their teams lose to Big10 teams.

11AM was a shitty time for the Outback Bowl, but it did keep from the overlap.

    Pros and cons to both.

but if Cap1 field had been in decent condtion, the SEC would have won both bowls.

Don't ever defend why the SEC won't play north of the Mason Dixon line, this says it all.

Road games outside the conference, by team, since 2000. Let's throw the 1-AA schools in here as well. Bolded teams are for BCS opponents outside of the conference states.

Illinois - SDSU, Cal (twice), Southern Miss, UCLA, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati (four OOR BCS)
Indiana - Kentucky (thrice), NC State, Utah, UConn, Washington, Oregon, Central Michigan, Ball State, Western Michigan, Akron, Virginia (eight OOR BCS)
Iowa - Iowa State (five times), Nebraska, Miami U, Arizona State, Syracuse, Pitt (three OOR BCS)
Michigan - UCLA, Washington, Notre Dame (four times), Oregon (three OOR BCS)
Michigan State - Missouri, Rutgers, Pitt, Cal, Notre Dame (five times) (three OOR BCS)
Minnesota - Baylor, Toledo, ULL, Tulsa, Ohio, Colorado State, Kent State, Cal, Florida Atlantic, Bowling Green, Syracuse (three OOR BCS)
Northwestern - TCU (twice), Duke (thrice), UNLV, Navy, Air Force, Kansas, Hawaii, Arizona State, Miami U, Nevada, Syracuse (six OOR BCS)
Ohio State - Arizona, UCLA, NC State, Texas, Washington, USC (six OOR BCS)
Penn State - Pitt, Nebraska, Boston College, Notre Dame, Temple, Syracuse (three OOR BCS)
Purdue - Notre Dame (five times), Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Toledo, Oregon (two OOR BCS)
Wisconsin - Hawaii (twice), Oregon, UNLV, West Virginia, Arizona, North Carolina, UNLV, Fresno State (four OOR BCS)
BIG TEN TOTAL - 45 out-of-region BCS opponents
BIG TEN TOTAL - 10 in-region BCS opponents

Alabama - UCLA, Oklahoma, Hawaii (twice) (two OOR BCS)
Arkansas - Texas (twice), USC (three OOR BCS)
Auburn - Syracuse, USC, Georgia Tech, West Virginia (three OOR BCS)
Florida - Florida State (four times), Miami
Georgia - Georgia Tech (five times), Oklahoma State, Clemson (one OOR BCS)
Kentucky - Louisville (four times), Indiana (twice) (two OOR BCS)
LSU - Washington, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arizona, Arizona State (five OOR BCS)
Ole Miss - Arkansas State, Memphis (four times), Wyoming, Texas Tech, Missouri, Wake Forest (three OOR BCS)
Mississippi State - Memphis (twice), BYU, Oregon, Tulane, Houston, UAB, Tulane, West Virginia, MTSU, Louisiana tech, Georgia Tech (two OOR BCS)
South Carolina - Clemson (five times), Virginia, North Carolina, NC State (three OOR BCS)
Tennessee - Memphis (twice), Notre Dame (twice), Miami, Cal, UCLA (four OOR BCS)
Vanderbilt - Wake Forest (thrice), Duke (twice), TCU, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Miami U, Army, Rice (six OOR BCS)

    SEC TOTAL - 34 out-of-region BCS
    SEC TOTAL - 24 in-region BCS opponents

Here's what it comes down to. If a Big Ten school wants to schedule an OOC game, they call up the MAC. If the SEC wants to schedule an OOC game, they can call any of a number of conferences, including another BCS conference (ACC) that's predominantly in the SEC region.

Why doesn't the Big10 want any part of playing on an SEC field? Pac10 is ok with it. Big12 is ok with it. ACC is ok with it. BigEast is ok with it. And the SEC has no problem playing those teams on their fields. hmm...

Stupid that these games will be on at the same time, but The Little Ceasars Bowl will have no competition.
  • burt07
I don't like this at all, wouldn't you figure they would want an all-day buildup with the games? Instead let's put them all on at the same time? I don't get it. At all.

This is where you need to shut the fuck up, unless you want to continue on here as an SEC knob slobber, which of course wouldn't be surprising.

Appreciate the leg work NNN. There is a lot to be said about what conferences are located where, I don't disagree on that point. And your Vols, are frankly, left out of the discussion, they have and plan to travel well.

And, more importantly on topic, having these games at the same time is nothing but a head scratcher to me.

To go a little bit further here, these are the numbers of road games since 2000. It's set up like this:

    Michigan - 7/40/47
    Michigan State - 10/40/50
    Minnesota - 11/40/51
    Northwestern - 14/40/54
    Ohio State - 6/40/46
    Penn State - 7/40/46
    Purdue - 11/40/51
    Wisconsin - 10/40/50
    BIG TEN TOTAL - 107/440/547
BIG TEN TOTAL - 55 BCS opponents out of 107 road games (51.4%)

    Alabama - 4/40/44
    Arkansas - 3/40/43
    Auburn - 4/40/44
    Florida - 6/40/46

SEC TOTAL - 58 BCS opponents out of (69.0%)

that sucks that they're going to be going head to head...

The Big Ten can't be happy that they will be competing against themselves for viewership -- especially when it comes time to rework TV contracts and viewers will be a key part of the negotiations.

Michigan fans won't need to worry, they won't be playing in a New Year's day bowl anyway. ;)

When did LSU ever play Virginia? I know they had a contract playing VPI, but did they play UVA and I didn't know about it?

I don't see them having played Virginia since 2000 either.

They played VT in 2002 and 2007.

I was staring at (and transcribing) a bunch of lines of text, and it appears that I made two errors.
    1) Putting Virginia Tech as Virginia, and
    2) Listing one of those VT games as an LSU road game
