Which #1 Seed Will Get........
-
PrescottPurdue as a #2 or a #3 seed in their bracket?? That would be a huge break , IMO.
-
Laley23It would be. Id guess Purdue is in the MidWest or East bracket.
This eliminates Kansas (West)
This eliminates Duke (South)...if they get it.
Id go with Syracuse in the East or Kentucky in the Midwest (UK could also get the South if Duke isnt the #1 and someone else sneaks in). -
SportsAndLadySyracuse would be the #1 overall if they win out..but how likely is it that they win out with 2 games left in the big east, one being an easy win, the other being a tough road game @ Louisville who will be pumped for that game seeing as how they're on the bubble and need that win to feel good about their chances.
Also, the Big East tourney is a tad bit difficult to win. -
Azubuike24The Louisville game is the last game in Freedom Hall as well.
Kansas and Kentucky have an easier road to hoe to win out, especially Kentucky. Kansas does have K-State and at Missouri this week, which is tougher than Kentucky's at Georgia and vs Florida. -
reclegend22Georgia is a mysterious team and could be a dark horse in Athens against the Cats. The Bulldogs have wins over Illinois, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Florida (as well as a two-point loss at Vandy and a just six-point loss to Kentucky in Rupp), yet losses to Wofford, St. John's and got crushed against 14-15 Auburn by almost 25. Too many bad losses mixed in between the solid wins for the Bulldogs to make the Dance, but with the Blue Mist heading to town, Georgia can still end their season with fireworks.
Could be an interesting game. Could be a slaughterfest. -
Azubuike24Mark Fox has done a great job. They return everyone and should be a NCAA contender next year. Leslie and Thompkins are both future pros for sure.
-
reclegend22What'd you got? Interesting game or a lobotomy? I think it's really hard to say.
-
Laley23Well screw my prediction....as Syracuse CANT be the East team. That means they will probably take the South region and throw Duke out West. This makes Kansas the Midwest and UK the East.
Id guess Purdue then would go Midwest and face Kansas or South and face Duke.
Although I think Purdue ends up as a 3 seed, so this is all relative. -
Azubuike24I like UK to win, probably by double digits. Maybe 78-66, or something along those lines. Won't be an absolute blow out though, UGA at home compared to on the road is like night and day.

I think it is a break, but it is a much bigger for the other 2 or 3 seed in that particular bracket matched up with Purdue. Hummel is really able to help Purdue overcome two major deficiencies, lack of inside depth and lack of reliable outside shooters. Purdue has two guards that just flat-out cannot shoot the basketball well (Chris Kramer and Lewis Jackson). Without Hummel out there to help stretch the floor with Moore and Grant, the lane becomes pretty clogged up inside. Hummel's solid rebounding (6.9 a game) and occasional inside scoring helped off-set the fact that JaJuan Johnson isn't real physical inside and their only interior back-up is an inconsistent, inexperienced Freshman (Bade). And that kid just doesn't have near the talent of Robbie Hummel.Prescott wrote: Purdue as a #2 or a #3 seed in their bracket?? That would be a huge break , IMO.
Obviously, it's always beneficial to the #1 seed if there are less teams in their bracket that can potentially make the Final Four. And even though I had them as a near-lock to make it to Indy before the injury, w/o Hummel I don't think they have much of a chance. But the other #2 or #3 seed will face a much weaker Purdue squad or a much lower seeded team if the Boilers get knocked out earlier. A team like West Virginia, Villanova, Kansas State, etc. could have a pretty easy path to the Elite Eight. Whoever that team is will benefit the most from Hummel's terrible injury, not the #1 seed. The Buckeyes obviously don't have a chance of gaining that advantage.
