2010 FreeHuddle March Madness "Pick your players" tourney**3 hour time limit @ 7pm**

  • Laley23
I say play it by ear on the rounds. 8 would be best, but if we are short on time just end it when that round ends. Id say go for 8 rounds to start though.
  • SportsAndLady
    Alright, 8 rounds it is.
  • Azubuike24
    Why not.
  • SportsAndLady
Alright! Azu's in! That means we have 16...that'll be sufficient.
  • UA5straightin2008
how/when do we pick the order?
  • SportsAndLady
I'll just randomly select the order using some type of random assignment mechanism...I promise I won't cheat :)

and We will begin an hour or so after the brackets are released next Sunday night.
  • UA5straightin2008
do the order now!!! so i can do some planning of who i realistically may be able to pick/shoot for
  • SportsAndLady
Okay this is how it goes...these are the order of entrants into this tourney based on the order you said you will play:

    1) S&L
    2) onebuckeye
    3) mulva
    4) UA5
    5) idrain3
    6) laley
    7) rebel
    8) lhslep
    9) track
    10) karen
    11) deydurk
    12) sept
    13) killer
    14) ccrunner
    15) Sportswizuhrd
    16) Azubuike

I then used a random number generator website (stattrek.com) to put numbers 1-16 in a random order...here are the results:
    12 05 16 02 13 07 04 15 11 03 10 08 01 09 14 06

    So,

Here is the order we will select:

    1) September
    2) idrain3s
    3) Azubuike
    4) Onebuckeye
    5) Killerewok
    6) Rebel
    7) UA5
    8) Sportswizuhrd
    9) Deydurk
    10) Mulva
    11) Karen
    12) lhslep
    13) S&L
    14) Trackccrunner
    15) ccrunner
    16) Laley

I LIKE the results of the random drawing!!

We prolly could start this 1st round picking. Matchups wont effect most ppls early round picks. These players are surely going to be on teams that are "locked" in already.

sportsandlady wrote:I thought about that..but you also have to consider seeding for example a team like Ohio State (Turner)...they could end up a 2 seed, where he would probably go top 3...or they could end up a 4 seed and he would go probably top 5.

Also, say someone like Vazquez from Maryland..what if Maryland wins out including the ACC tourney, and they move up to a 4 seed...he would go a lot higher than if we chose right now (where Maryland is probably a 6 seed right now).

So i say we just wait til Sunday night to start it...I do appreciate the suggestions though

Damn, missed the boat on this.

It wont be this Sunday then. Sunday March 13th. Sunday night to Thurs at noon isnt alot of time when ur running picks every 6 hrs for 16 ppl. I also know some players could even get injured between now and then. The risks involved in picking now would be the same for everyone.

I can take you out of the competition and add devil in your spot if you'd like?

Nah. Im in. Ill be back to this thread Sun night March 13th.
  • Laley23
This is bullshit. You put me last cause you know Ill dominate in any other position!!! :D
  • SportsAndLady
Haha laley, blame stattrek my man...don't worry, it's not like I chose anything or else I wouldn't be towards the end.

But don't worry, my friends have done this the last 5 years and only once did someone with a top 5 (out of 25) pick win it all.

Also, i have to check to see if it's fantasy football style drafting, where you get the 1st pick then pick last in the 2nd round, etc. or if it's first round every round.

Yeah, I mean in the end its all about if your teams advance and if your late round players make the sweet 16.

    Yup..exactly.

Basically the guys who win, just get lucky and take the top 3 scorers from a team who isn't being picked to win it all but is right there.

For example, 2 years ago, dude chose Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush, and Sherron Collins...and I believe had Cole Aldrich, too. Then he had 2 other guys who made the Sweet 16 and were leading scorers or close.
  • SportsAndLady
Like obviously you're not gonna get Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich, and Xavier Henry all on the same team...but if you can get like say West Virginia's Da'sean Butler, Kevin Jones, and Devin Ebanks..and they can make a run to the Final Four, you're in great shape.
  • Laley23
Or get Wally Szczerbiak (10 seed with Miami) who had 43, 24, and 23 points.
  • SportsAndLady
Haha yeah..maybe Fredette from BYU? Damian Lillard from Weber State? Ryan Wittman from Cornell?

    I donno...haha
  • athlete37
I missed the boat on this but would've selected Luke Harangody... :)

Laley we don't need to know about the positions you dominate S&L with.... ;).
  • SportsAndLady
K I guess we can do this like the NFL draft....if you wanna select a player before the 14th, you may do so...but the next person is not entitled to select if he does not want to.
