Michigan failed to keep mandatory logs
-
darbypitcher22sounds like somebody's in some trouble...
-
WebFireYeah been reading up on this this afternoon. It does not look good.
-
FatHobbitI know the NCAA is a giant bureaucratic mess, so this could end up being a big deal. But of all the cheating things a football program can do, I just can't get upset about making them work too hard.
-
WebFire2 points though...
1. The problem was identified and corrected before the FREEP report came out accusing the football team of wrongdoing. This "finding" is not a result of the investigation.
2. This is an internal issue only, and it is not something required by the NCAA.
However, I still think it might be damaging to the investigation. It puts no reason into anybody to have faith in the UM football program telling the truth. Had the reports been filed, it would have been a great tool in the defense of the program doing the right things. -

You wouldnt think with all the cheating done in college basketball recruiting that a few phone calls would be a big deal either. But look at the state of Indiana basketball right now...FatHobbit wrote: I know the NCAA is a giant bureaucratic mess, so this could end up being a big deal. darbypitcher22I believe these sorts of things are secondary violations anyway. Pretty much get the same thing Lane Kiffin did after committing like 6 in his first 3 months on the job @ Tennessee

ptangzootThe NCAA hasn't touched USC and they damn near glow in the dark...
Why would anything happen to Michigan? -

WriterbuckeyeGo ahead and call me naive, but I think the NCAA is about the bring a sledgehammer down on USC's athletic program. They hear the same criticism we all do; that USC has become untouchable. That kind of negative publicity motivates bureaucracies into action like few things do.
As far as Michigan is concerned, I think this will end up being part of Shred Rod's epitaph when he's fired next year. -
darbypitcher22I think dark days are ahead at USC as well.
-
BCSbunkThis will be interesting to keep an eye on. Just how serious is failing to keep accurate logs?
-
WebFire
Like I said above, this is not an NCAA violation. The logs are simply an internal process meant to help keep the teams in compliance.BCSbunk wrote: This will be interesting to keep an eye on. Just how serious is failing to keep accurate logs? -
darbypitcher22well if they're not in compliance there's gotta be an NCAA violation in there somewhere....
