NCAA to release report on Michigan

WriterbuckeyeNo more excuses, Blue fans.
This was simply piss poor judgment by a coach who has a rep for piss poor judgment. -

Yes. This is an outward indication of what is going on inside the program. If Rich Rod was respected and embraced within the UM community this mess up never makes it to the press.insuranceguy wrote: ^^^ I am sure every college breaks rules. The bad thing here is RRods own players turned him in. If you respect your coach that doesnt happen.
Rich is as good as gone after this coming season. UM is using this time to secure Jim H. or Less after the announcement is made public. They will not make the same mistake they made last time and get their coaching job turned down publicly by several coaches. Rich will get fired on a Sat. and UM announce the new coach on the following Monday. No drama this time- guaranteed. -

dwccrewI don't know how any UM fans can defend RR. The man has set Michigan back so far. 8-16 in the past 2 seasons, not too mention all the "records" he has made. Ending the bowl streak, consecutive losses in back to back years to MSU and OSU, etc. Now this on top of all the "on the field" setbacks.

Last season set me on this path. The violations are the icing on the cake. Get talking to Harbaugh!dwccrew wrote: I don't know how any UM fans can defend RR. I still don't understand why some UM fans want Harbaugh or Miles? Harbaugh has had one solid season at stanford(we all saw how tough the pac-10 actualy was this year during bowl season) other then that he really hasn't done anything. Now if they have another impressive season this year then I would have no problem with him coming to UM (IF RR has another disappoiting season). Miles would be a terrible hire imo and I hope he stays at LSU forever I do not want him at UM.WebFire wrote:

bo shemmy3337I agree ^^^^. If is correct. He is going to have avery hard time getting to 8 wins and I think 8 is his magic number. Michigan has 3 very hard road games and I dont see them winning any of those. They might get to 8 wins but I see them going 7-5 which is not good enough IMO.

ytownfootballHarbaugh is hardly a bad choice. I don't consider what he's done at Stanford substandard by any means. I don't think comparing Stanford to SC/Michigan/UF others is equal. Their academics are tough and they don't have the recruits that others might, so I actually think he's done well with what he has.
I look at Miles the same as Rich Rod, wouldn't want him within a mile of my program. -
BaseballIf RR goes 7-5 no way they fire him...
-
ytownfootball^^I don't know about that^^
Depends on who the wins came against...
It's been 2288...there are 6 year olds and 6 senior graduating classes that live with that...
Not to mention alums -

So 7-5 and not beating your rival is good enough for RRod but not Lloyd:huh:Baseball wrote: If RR goes 7-5 no way they fire him... -

If they lose to Purdue, ND, or Indiana on the road then hes gone. PSU is understandable considering how young our D will be(if he gets blown out like last year then its unexceptable). OSU, no one in AA expects to beat them this year they are to good and UM has to many ???.bo shemmy3337 wrote: I agree ^^^^. If is correct. Considerig LLoyd lost to them on a regular basis with much better/more experienced talent then what RR has had then yes. RR gets a pass one more year against OSU imo. The goal for this season is just to make improvement and actualy have a respectable record.insuranceguy wrote:

insuranceguy^^^ Wow How the standards have fallen. No way this should be acceptable at a school with the tradition they have.
-
OldDanTuckerwell when you go 3-9, then 5-7 and have alot of questions to answer on D you shouldn't be expecting a NC. Yes you SHOULD expect a NC I would think every major program does, but realistic goals would be a 8 win season, with wins over 2 of your top 3 rivals (I hate to admit it but OSU is just on a much higher level then UM right now)

Big Gain
Why has RichRod's defense been "young" for 3 years in a row? It's time to find a new excuse.OldDanTucker wrote:

With all of the extra illegal practice time, one would think something better than 7-5 would be attainable. -
OldDanTuckerFirst, RR D has not been young for three years. The O has been young for the past 2 (don't take my word for it go look at the starting roster for the past two seasons), the first year he was there the D was decent just zero help from the O made them look alot worse. Last year pre-season injurys, no depth, inexperience at several positions made for a bad D. If you don't believe me that the D will be young heres some proof
Returning Starters
DL-3, 2 Juniors, one soph(Roh LB/DE guy)
LB-2/1/0, both have very strong chances of being replaced
DB-1, there is a good chance of having 2-3 fresh starting in the secondary I don't expect Kovacks and Williams to be starting leaving Woolfolk as the only returning guy.
Also, the practice times comments are hilarious. UM went a whole 20 mins over per day, like any other team in the country actualy stays in the 20 hour time limit. Also for those who want to put blame on RR for this violation crap, Tom posted today on scout.com that the powers at UM (Brandon and Mary Sue Coleman) asked RR to take the heat for the violations while they take care of the people responsible for this inside the administration. Publicly saying that the cause of the investigation started because of people inside the administration failing to cooperate with RR and leaking information that they exaggerated(remeber the freepress originaly stated that their sources said that UM went waaaaaayyyy over the time limit) would cause even more damage to the University. But I don't expect anyone to actualy give a damn and most will continue to put the blame on RR and not cut the guy some slack he has dealt with more shit from some of the UM 'fans' then anyone should have to. From day 1 most people at UM hated him and never gave him a chance. No im not a RR lover but you have to give the guy a chance, if he doesn't win this year then ok they made a bad hire now move on. I hope he wins though that way all the "fans" who never gave him a chance will look like a bunch of asshats. -
ytownfootballODT, you are quite the apologist, I know you have passion for UM but RR is a turd. I really fail to see how the administration asked him to allow them to throw him under the bus, and he agreed. That's asking a lot of the fans with the rosiest of glasses to believe.
RR never had to emphasize Defense in the Big East, he's spent so much time on his beloved offense that he failed to recall his existence is now in the Big 10. -

I was just stating what Tom said on scout (he usualy is very accurate with his inside info on UM). You are right though RR never really had to emphasize on D but with Greg Robinson in there now and RR realizing that he needs to make huge improvements on the D they are on their way to turning UM back to a top program imo. There is a TON of talent on the UM roster, the problem is they are still very young and inexperienced for the most part, how quick they develope is what will determine RR's fate in AA.ytownfootball wrote: ODT, you are quite the apologist, I know you have passion for UM but RR is a turd. OldDanTuckerBecause one year of actualy having players that fit his system is not a reason to fire him. If you think that UM would have been much better with the exact same team but a different scheme in RR's first year then you are a fool. Steven Threet=terrible, No healthy RB(minor was banged up all year), zero returning OL, and a below average receiving core. Sure they MIGHT have gone 6-6 if they stuck with the old O but what good would that have done honestly?

So what will you say when they are 7-5 this year? Is that good enough now? Will it be, "Wait till next year?"OldDanTucker wrote: Because one year of actualy having players that fit his system is not a reason to fire him. Growing pains is one think. Turning the winningest (is that a word) college football program of all time into the laughing stock of college football is another.
I just can't imagine that any other respectable coach would have turned the program into what it is now.
