What college basketball coach would win a no-holds-barred street fight? The Sweet 16.

  • Karl Childers
After some horrific 1st Round beatdowns, The Inside Handshake's "What College Basketball Coach Would Win a No-Holds-Barred Streetfight" Tournament is down to its Sweet 16.

Here's some highlights of the 1st Round action:

Bob Huggins had the most impressive win with a battering of UConn's Jim Calhoun. Huggs landed an astonishing 98% of the punches in this one-sided beatdown.

Kansas State's Manic Frank Martin destroyed poor Roy Williams, landing 86% of the blows.

In another lopsided thrashing, Bo Ryan absolutely dismantled Duke's Coach K, scoring 90% of the punches. The refs couldn't help Coach K in this one as it was over before it started.

In a surprising (but not really) fight, 65-year old Jim Boeheim of Syracuse opened a can of whoop-ass on 38-year old Mick Cronin of Cincinnati.

The other lopsided win was Gary Williams destruction of Michigan's John Beilien.

Other results were Matt Painter over Bill Self, Jay Wright over Mark Few, Billy Donovan over Thad Matta, Tom Crean barely edging John Calipari, Tom Izzo over Steve Alford, Bruce Weber over Lon Kruger, Barnes over Pitino in the Battle of the Ricks, Bruce Pearl over Travis Ford, Jeff Capel over John Thompson III, Ben Howland over Tubby Smith, and Jamie Dixon nipping Sean Miller.

Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl is a hell of a 2nd round match up.

Huggs reported he was drunk when he beat up Calhoun.

Spectators reported Billy Donovan's hair did not move when he stomped Thad Matta. Matta taken away on a stretcher as the back injury flared up.

Tom Crean got assistance from a retired Jon Cheney who stormed the ring and hit Calipari with a chain. Cheney was overhead saying "I told you I'd kill you".

Great tournament. I see a Huggins/Martin final, with Gary Williams as a darkhorse.

    No one is stopping Huggins

From the link, Huggs v. Cronin, LOL

Mick Cronin. Trust me when I say a lot of guys would be hoping for a shot at Micky C. I can picture Huggs holding his hand on top of Mick's head as he swung wildly like they do in the cartoons or Three Stooges movies. Classic. An added bonus would be if Mick pissed his pants.

Agreed. I had to go with Pearl b/c I think his mind is slightly more crazy but Bo Ryan brings the Grinch-like intensity all the time.

Huggins should win. He'll simply bring a gun and shoot anyone who gets in his way.

He is a Mountaineer, after all. :)
