Ohio now cheering for Notre Dame?

  • said_aouita
With Brian Kelly now as the coach, will you now cheer (a little) for Notre Dame?

I hated Notre Dame football just as much as Michigan football. Now I don't think I do? Brian Kelly is too good of a fella.

    Cheer for ND or not?

    I will ;)
  • cbus4life
    I will.

Can't help it, i'm a huge fan of Kelly. And i hate him for that. :D
  • Pick6
I will root for them...to lose.
  • GoPens
Why cheer for him now? I didn't cheer for him at UC.
  • j_crazy
I'll never root for them, but I'm not a blind ND hater of which there are a few here. Whatever happens to ND happens, I don't worry about many teams other than those I like and those in the top 10. If ND gets into the top 10, I'll pull for them or root against them depending on OSU's position in the polls.

I hated Charlie Weis, which is the main reason for my dislike of Notre Dame. I love Kelly, so with him at ND, I actually think ND becomes my second favorite team.

As a UC fan, I will not root for Coach Kelly at ND. I don't fault him for moving on, but I do fault for how it all went down. In addition, Cincinanti has always been a recruiting pipline for ND going back to the Faust era. With the large catholic population in the city, the Cincinnati media covers ND heavily. As long as BK is at ND, UC fans will have it rubbed in their face by their own local media who has always been very indifferent towards the Bearcats.

I'll never root for Notre Dame EVER.

When they play Michigan its an epic fail

I hate to say it but I'll probably be cheering a little for Notre Dame. Haven't done that since the last guy from Ohio was coach (Faust).

It's kind of like when Buckeyes play for pro teams you hate. You don't necessarily cheer for that team but you do cheer for the player.

By last guy from Ohio you really meant to say Lou Holtz didn't you, not Gerry Faust?

    How could I forget Lou............

So many coaches nowadays with Ohio roots makes it harder and harder to keep track of (not that I should of forgotten Lou).

    This.

I won't be "cheering" for ND any more because Brian Kelly is the coach, seems a little silly to me. I want ND to be better for the overall landscape of college football, but Brian Kelly as the head coach has NO bearing on it.

I cheered for Noter Dame when Lou Holtz was there and again when Brady Quinn was there. I don't ever actively root against them.

I also cheered for Cinci when they were doing well, but only because they are in Ohio. I have no feelings one way or the other for Kelly, so I'll probably only cheer for them when they play Michigan or USC.

I hope ND loses every game from here on out. Although I did miss them getting BLOWN out in a bowl game, that's always a annual family event.
  • krazie45
Notre Dame has always been my 2nd favorite team, so I will continue to root for them to do well. I think Kelly was a great hire.

Brian Kelly has a 3 year tie to the state of Ohio.... why would that change the mind of Ohioans to cheer for the team he decided to go to next? It's not like he was born and raised in Ohio and started his career here. He merely passed through for a few years on the way to his dream job.

In other words, no, it won't change my opinion on if I root for Notre Dame or not.
  • Fly4Fun
Never cheered for him at UC... so I don't plan on starting now. It's not like he's an Ohio boy or anything.

And Bob Davie played college football at Youngstown State

I couldn't care less about Brian Kelly.
  • woody
ND is my 2nd favorite team, my favorite team is whoever is playing ND.
  • Writerbuckeye
Brian Kelly has no real connection to Ohio other than having coached at Cincinnati. It would take a LOT more than that to make most Ohioans give a crap about him or his success.

You hope they lose every game from here on out? Was that any different ever?
