I am watching a fixed BBall game, sweet.

I never whine about refs, but this game is ridiculous. Clemson at VT.

    Clemson- 24 fouls
    VT- 18 fouls

    Clemson FTs- 7-12
    VT FTs- 26-34

VT only has 11 field goals in the ball game. I am watching it and the two teams are playing similarly, they call the touch fouls on us, but not VT. They even messed up on a possession arrow, and VT got two possessions in a row after jump balls.
  • ohiotiger33
Delaney has 16 pts off FTs in the game.

    Now 18.
  • ohiotiger33
About to be 20. Can't play defense because everything is called. Have 4 with 4 fouls, and one fouled out with 4+ mins left.
  • ohiotiger33
Most foul shots by an opposing player against us since 1954.
  • WebFire
    Your team must be losing?
  • ohiotiger33
Yep. It is crazy. We are out rebounding, have 9 blocks, shooting 15 % higher, and lead in TOs, but have shot over 20 less foul shots.
  • ohiotiger33
Lost by 11, VT put up 70, while shooting 22%.

The fact that this game is fixed aside, what in the world happened to Clemson? This is a talented team, or at least I thought so earlier in the year. I was hoping they'd carry their end of the "heavyweight" in the conference this season.
  • ohiotiger33
The team lost a lot more with the loss of Rivers and Oglesby than many thought. Jennings is the worst 5-star prospect I have ever seen. We have no shooters, and just look lost on offense much of the time. It will take an amazing run to even make the tourney.

I watched the last 7 minutes of this game. Clemson looked unorganized and sloppy. I didn't get the sense that they were getting homered, but they looked really dumb running their offense and couldn't buy an outside shot.
  • ohiotiger33
I mean, we didn't play great, but 46 fts is too many. Just saw the stat- Clemson is 0-7 the last 7 games refereed by the guy that called this game. Hess.

Whatever, I am just pissed haha. But we aren't that great.

It was done by that time. We couldn't do anything. We had 4 guys with 4 fouls with 15 minutes left. The game was over at that point.

It was probably the same crew that did the Georgia Tech at duke game.
  • ohiotiger33
Probably. I am cooled off now. Don't get me wrong, we didn't play well, and probably didn't deserve the W, but the officiating made the game excruciating to watch. It was over 2 and a half hours. I don't like watching free throw competitions where one side gets twice as many as the other.

Delaney had 23 free throws, Clemson had 21. Lol.

Or the Duke at Wake game from last season. The ACC is notorious for what many fans perceive to be "homer crews" when their teams are traveling on the road. It's not just Duke who benefits from time to time. It's the entire conference. Hell would foster water lilies before Duke would enjoy the benefit of a call in places like Winston-Salem, College Park, Tallahassee or Chapel Hill.

    Please.

Didn't watch any of this game, but the first thing I thought when I saw the thread is Karl Hess.

I just knew that he had to be involved. The man is a disgrace to officiating.

    Of course not.

Wasn't it at Wake about four years ago when 4 Duke starters fouled out and Redick had to play point?

I thought the Ga Tech/Duke game was going to turn out to be a game with the benches finishing the game due to 3-4 starters fouling out on BOTH teams. But they swallowed their whistles in the second half. Poor officiating anyway you look at it. But definitely not a deciding factor in that game.
  • Prescott
But definitely not a deciding factor in that game.

DEFINITELY??? lawal didn't get to play in the first half. Favors played a little in the first half. Both players lost their aggressiveness in the 2nd half because they wanted to stay on the floor.

Would duke have won the game anyway?? Maybe.

You really don't think that losing Lawal 33 seconds into the game didn't have a negative impact on every Georgia Tech player? C';mon, you are smarter than that.

The fouls on Lawal and Favors were certainly a primary factor in the outcome.

Who can say that BC would not have yesterday's game if the refs had stayed consistent and called the charge on Nolan Smith. IMO,it was a good no-call, but the refs had been calling charges all afternoon.
  • ohiotiger33
Yeah, refs can seriously get into weird modes where they call everything. The game last night was simply no fun to watch because of it.

I thought you didn't watch Duke games? Or was that ahdonis who said that.

Not usually. I was stuck inside because of the weather and I needed some amusement.

But were they fouls???? If so...then the refs definitely weren't the deciding factors. From what I saw....both teams were being called the same way......

Part of the game is understanding how the game is being called and adjusting to it. There was a reason why there were Duke players on the court that rarely see time. To steal minutes and protect others from foul trouble.
  • Prescott
    But were they fouls????
Who knows. I watched the first 5 minutes of the game. Lawal's first alleged foul was off camera and off the ball. The commentators didn't even know what happened.

Yea, that was Lawal's downfall. He couldn't get a read on the officials in 33 seconds. He has to better than that.
  • swamisez
Lawal's second foul was wrong place at wrong time.

His first foul was one where the officials let them jockey then decided they needed to clean it up inside and made him an example.

Sucks that it went down like that, but it happens.
