VPI Students Throwing Objects on the Floor

  • eersandbeers
Wonder why the anti-WVU ESPN won't run front page articles on this situation. I have a feeling it won't even get a mention tomorrow, yet WVU fans throwing a few things on the floor is the biggest event in college basketball history.

Not to mention the 24 hour sport news sensationalists who have nothing to do but create stories rather than report them.

Its VPI vs WVU. Of course a top 10 team in the BE is gonna get press.

...and why does every fan think ESPN hates their team(s)??
  • Mulva
When did WVU fans throw things on the floor? I don't watch much ESPN unless a game is on.
  • Prescott
Are you trying to justify what was done at West Virginia??
  • Mulva
"It's annoying," [Da'Sean] Butler said. "It really is, honestly. It shows people watching the game from home or from out of state that we have no class. It gives our team and our state a bad name in general and that's not what we're about as a team and I know that's not what we're about as a state. Why even do that stuff?"
  • Writerbuckeye
Well, let's see...WVU students have also been reprimanded by the administration for saying particularly vulgar things to other players (Turner of Ohio State for one), and their coach took the mic and stopped the game because they were throwing stuff on the court in another game AFTER that.

I'd say WV has earned its poor reputation honestly.

Are you sad because they don't have more company?

Nope. I'm not trying to justify anything because I don't care. I didn't throw anything and neither did 15,000+ other fans in the Coliseum. I have nothing to be embarrassed about.

I don't care about reputation nor what others think. It does not bother me in the slightest what the opinion of others is.

I'm merely pointing out the hypocritical double standard of the disgusting media.

Why are you making an issue about it?

You most certainly do care. Your institution is being railed for its mouth breathing, knuckle dragging behavior and you're embarassed for it, rightfully so.
  • gabuckeye
I have no idea who VPI is.

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University aka Virginia Tech. (and people think "The" Ohio State University is uppity :) )

    This.

And if you had simply called out your own university students for their boorish behavior, instead of whining about how others aren't being vilified in the same manner, you would have done yourself a favor.

It also stands for Virginia Penal Institute which is why I use it.

I was making an issue about the blatant double standard. Not the perceptions of others.

Wow, thankfully you said that. This whole time I've been thinking I don't care, but since you told me I do, then I must actually care.

I am hardly embarrassed of the behavior of 4 fans when 15000 fans acted the way they should.

Not surprisingly you did not comprehend the point of the post.

Why should I call out my own university? I don't care about what 4 students did. Maybe call out those 4 students, but not the university.

I also didn't call out VPI. I was pointing out the blatant and obvious double standard in the media since their behavior didn't make a newspaper.

I didn't know such an easy concept would be so difficult to grasp.

eers, four fans didn't shout loud enough what they did to be heard by a national TV audience.

Not surprisingly you don't understand irony. Got Denial?

I'm not talking about a few naughty words as my original post clealy indicated. I also care even less about profanity than I do throwing things on the floor.

Saying I'm in denial makes no logical sense. Denial means I would say something didn't happen when it did. I simply said I don't care and I don't. You should probably use the terms correctly.

Not surprisingly you still failed to grasp the basic point of the post.

The point of your post for me is simply you don't like he fact WVU is being called out for acting like idiots, and not as much in other cases.

    But you don't care...

If you didn't then you wouldn't be beating the drum like a Chief. That = irony = denial

The fact that WVU has a history of this behavior, and an equal history of being proud of it...

To me you whining about the "double standard" = a big can of STFU

Certainly what WVU fans did was wrong. There is none, not one major university that hasn't had embarrassing actions by their fans. In fact 18 different Pitt fans threatened Coach Huggins' life on facebook in the last couple of days.

I don't think I could possibly dumb this down any further for you.

I don't care about what people think about the incident or our national perception. My complaint is the blatant double standard that exists by not reporting on the same exact thing when it happened at VPI. WVU was lead news on ever station and every sportscaster made sure they gave their opinion.

Yup, and not a single mention of it in the news. Only the actions of WVU fans get reported.

This thread is very entertaining. Eers says he doesn't care, yet says it in a thread. Yep he doesn't care.

Comparing VPI to WVU???? Oh, I see what you did there.

It's amazing how many people must have failed a basic reading comprehension class.

I never once said I didn't care about the double standard. I said I don't care about the national reaction towards the actions of WVU students. There is a difference between those two things.

    Try to keep up.

It's more amazing how you continue to further reinforce the sterotype people have of West "by God" Virginia with every post you make.

What stereotype am I reinforcing? The one that we possess a basic ability to comprehend what we read. One that you clearly do not possess.

It's more amazing how you continue to further reinforce the stereotype people have about Ohioans with every post you make.

Why do I care about stereotypes? People can think what they want.

I think WVU students acted like a bunch of backward ass, hillfucks and embarassed themselves and thier "university" to nausiating proportions.
