Manny Harris vs Evan Turner.. who would you take?

    Thoughts?

Both have similar games. I'm an OSU fan so I'd take Turner. Hes bigger, stronger and IMO has a better ability to get to the basket than Harris. Harris does have better range though.

    Turner

Turner... better all around player. Only place Harris is better is his range from deep.
  • krazie45
Turner is the more versatile player and I think the better player, so I'm going with turner.

    Turner.

Harris is good, but I would go with Turner.

I think everyone agrees on Turner unless you are a die-hard UM fan. The guy is just a leader with a great head on his shoulders. He does it all. He rebounds better than any guard you'll see.

I think I'd take Harris. Tough choice though.

Last year: Harris...I thought he was the best player in the B10.

This year: I think Turner will have the best year. He seems to have improved a lot.....then again, he hasnt played anyone so its tough to tell.

No offense, as I think Harris is very good. But we are talking about one player, who is goiing to be a top 10 NBA pick, who is 6'8", can finish at the basket, can post up, is now playing the PG position, can pass, is unselfish...he was one of 5 players in D1 last year to lead his team in points, rbs and asst, shot 50% from the field. Harris is a bit of a "gunner", shot 40% last year FG, which quite frankly, isn't very good. Again, he is good...but not as good as Turner when you look at the all around game along with physical attributes.

Ive been very impressed with his improved ball handling/decision making (ie less turnovers) this year from the PG spot. It will be interesting to see if he has what it takes to continue the role all throughout the season when the Bucks play another guy who can pressure him on the ball a bit better. Now, I wont look to much into the UNC game, but the Cal/Cuse game as well as the FSU game will be good indicators as to what we can expect going into the B10 season.

Yea, it's hard to judge OSU from their first two games. We'll see the improvement and how good this team can be over the next week.

As for this debate, you are asking an Ohio forum website. Do you really think anyone is going to say Harris? I haven't seen him enough to make an education opinion on it, but from what I have seen it has to be Turner.

I think I'll go with the Top 10 NBA pick.

Although I do agree for the most part with the higher NBA draft choice, that doesn't always tell you who the better college player is. The NBA is a different game than college and certain skills translate better to the next level, which is why a better player in college isn't always the better pro player.

I don't think the question is crazy. Obviously this is an Ohio board so most people are going to take Turner, but here are the stats from ESPN for their first two years. (There's not much to work with yet this year)

    Turner
SEASON MIN PTS REB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT% 3P% PPS
    2007-2008 27.1 8.5 4.4 2.6 2.7 .99 1.3 .5 2.4 .470 .699 .333 1.35
    2008-2009 36.4 17.3 7.1 4.0 3.5 1.12 1.8 .8 2.9 .503 .788 .440 1.49

    Harris
    2007-2008 33.0 16.1 4.2 2.7 3.6 .75 1.4 .2 2.0 .381 .817 .318 1.24
    2008-2009 32.9 16.9 6.8 4.4 3.1 1.40 1.2 .5 2.1 .415 .863 .327 1.35

I would take Turner, but the question isn't crazy IMHO.
  • elbuckeye28
I would take Turner, but Harris is definitely awesome.
  • burt07
    I'm going with C) P.J. Hill
  • Hb31187
Lol I agree with Fat Hobbit...and have already brought this up a few times, but it must be blasphemy to say on an ohio based sports board ;)
  • allstar
Turner because of his rebounding. Harris is a better shooter, but Turner isn't too bad of a shooter. And Turner, IMO, has more talent around him to make him look better.

Turner outrebounded Harris last year by the slim margin of 7.1 to 6.8. And Turner shot .503 and .440 from three. Harris was .415 and .327 from three.

Yeah but Turners 3pt % cant even be used really, whatd he shoot like 20? compared to like 150 or so that Manny shot(dont feel like looking up the numbers)
