Rose Bowl here we come
-
sportchampps5 straight big 10 titles
with a loaded team coming back next year woohoo -
Cleveland BuckLoaded except for the defensive line and secondary. The defense may be pretty bad next season.
-
osu99there's something so great about a Rose Bowl berth. if you aren't going to the NC game then get to the Rose Bowl...GO BUCKS!!!
-
osu45804What a GREAT Atmosphere today/tonight ... I had to sit next to two Iowa fans and it was a pretty interesting experience to say the least lol...... One of them told me after Iowa killed the clock w/ a minute to go that they are going to lose now.. HAHA he was right!! GO BUCKS!
-
darbypitcher22hopefully next year the offense picks up the D... don't count on it...
Who do we think our opponent would be?
-
Red_Skin_PrideNo. The way it's looking, we'll be playing Stanford. they've already beaten USC and Oregon, whereas Arizona still has Oregon and USC, plus their rivalry game with Arizona State. My guess is that USC will be mad as hell and looking to take it out on a team that is ranked, and Oregon and ASU are neither one pushovers. Arizona lost to Washington, who is NOT good, and I can't see how they'll finish the last 3 games with more than 1 win, not counting tonight, which they are only ahead by 1 point as we speak to a Cal team without Best. My money's on Stanford to win the PAC-10 because they have the easier schedule to finish the season, whereas Arizona is just getting into the toughest part of their conference schedule.
-
darbypitcher22Stanford is a scary, SCARY club.
-
dwccrewOregon wins out they're our opponent.
-
wags6817The Ducks would worry me more than Stanford.
-
darbypitcher22both clubs worry me. somehow, I don't see with Arizona and Oregon State left, the Ducks winning out.
-
dwccrew
You don't see the Ducks winning out? Or you do? Your sentence makes it seem like you think one of those 2 will beat Oregon.darbypitcher22 wrote: both clubs worry me. somehow, I don't see with Arizona and Oregon State left, the Ducks winning out. -

OSU had a great class of DB's this past year coming in. Johnson looks like he will be a fine S, he is physically ready at the moment. Our secondary will be fine imo. Hines and Chekwa will be back both have been starters for the majority of the year, Coleman is a big loss but Russell isn't imo.Cleveland Buck wrote: Loaded except for the defensive line and secondary. Chekwa, Hines, and Torrence all return? Not sure how that means our secondary isn't loaded when 75% return with great talent on the bench. -

Weren't we saying this last year after losing Malcolm Jenkins, James Laurinaitis, and Marcus Freeman?Cleveland Buck wrote: Loaded except for the defensive line and secondary. The defense may be pretty bad next season. -
Swamp FoxLet's beat Michigan next week and then worry about who our Rose Bowl opponent will be. I was very excited to watch Stanford dismantle USC in my local sports bar as OSU was finishing up with that 39 yard field goal to clinch the Title. Watching USC lose and OSU win on side by side tv's made my evening. I don't relish having to play Stanford, as they are very good, but I like our odds against anyone who isn't USC in the Rose Bowl. We are due and there is no time like the present.
-
southpaw1515Have we ever had a bad defense under Tressell? Our defense will be fine.
-
dwccrew
I never understood what was meant by 'we are due'. We aren't due anything in my opinion. The win has to be earned and the Bucks just haven't done enough to earn that win in the last three bowl games. Let's hope this year they bust their tails and go into Pasadena and win.Swamp Fox wrote: We are due and there is no time like the present. -
Tully BlanchardAnother chance to be embarrased on a national scale in the biggest bowl game of them all, here we come.
-
slingshot4everRight now, I am only excited and thinking about the Michigan game. We can talk about the Rose Bowl at 4 PM on Saturday.
-
ptown_trojans_1It is great they are in the Rose Bowl. That was want I wanted this team to do this year, and they have delivered. It is about time the Bucks get back to the "Granddaddy of them all". The Fiesta Bowls were great, but this feels just right.
As to who they play, it is between Stanford and Oregon. Stanford just has Cal left, and I can easily see them winning that game.Stanford is playing amazing football right now. Lucky is playing beyond his years.
As for Oregon, I can see them losing to Oregon St. But, I doubt it. They are clicking again, and will probably win out.
I think OSU matches up better with Stanford, but I can see the Bucks matching up well with Oregon. No matter who they play, it will be a good game. -

I agree with the above. OSU matches up with Stanford much better against their traditional style of offense. Oregon scares me a little more with their quickness and spread offense. Oregon would be a tougher game for OSU IMO. Either one, is goign to be tough to beat IMO. I think OSU woudl have a better chance vs Stanford. I want OSU to play the BEST available team. To get national respect back, they need to play the best, and beat the best. This game will be huge in terms of getting set up next year for a run to the title game.ptown_trojans_1 wrote: It is great they are in the Rose Bowl. Cleveland Buck
I don't what anyone else was saying, but I wasn't at all upset that we lost those three. They were good players, but I was glad that we would be able to play some guys that can run (like Brian Rolle). Also, The whole D-line came back, so I knew the defense wouldn't be worse than last year. The defensive line is the key to any good defense, which is why we have done well so far this year, and why we will probably struggle next year with Gibson, Heyward, and Worthington gone.Weren't we saying this last year after losing Malcolm Jenkins, James Laurinaitis, and Marcus Freeman?
It depends on your definition of bad. I would say a bad defense gives up 40 ppg in their 2 biggest games of the year (2006). I would say a bad defense gives up 38 points in a title game and loses another game by giving up a 9 minute drive of all run plays to run out the clock. (2007)Have we ever had a bad defense under Tressell? Our defense will be fine. -
enigmaaxI was trying to figure out the Pac 10 scenarios, you guys may be interested in this since you're going to play the winner of this cluster:
Oregon controls its own destiny; right now they are the only team with one loss so if they win out, they're in.
Arizona also controls its own destiny. They have beaten Oregon State and Stanford, but have Oregon, Arizona State, and USC remaining. Highly unlikely they'll win all three, but even if they beat only Oregon they can throw a wrench into the tiebreaker.
Oregon State has an opportunity to bring Oregon down (other game is vs. Washington St). If upsets are limited, the ideal situation for them is to beat Oregon and have Oregon beat Arizona, as they would then win a three way tiebreaker with Oregon and Stanford by virtue of having beaten them both.
Stanford has lost to both Arizona and Oregon State, so they would benefit most by a tie only with Oregon. Ideally for them, Oregon would beat Oregon State, Arizona would beat Oregon, and Arizona would then lose to either Arizona State or USC.
So, here are the three way tie winners (situation assumes all teams win out other than games mentioned):
Oregon, Stanford, Arizona = Arizona (this requires Az to beat Ore and Ore to beat Ore St)
Oregon, Stanford, Oregon State = Oregon State (this requires Ore to beat Az and Ore St to beat Ore)
Stanford, Arizona, Oregon State = Arizona (this requires Az and Ore St to beat Ore) -
krazie45What makes you think Gibson and Heyward will be gone?

Red_Skin_Pride
I think Oregon's in trouble. the only way they'll get in is if they win out, and I can't see that happening with Arizona and Oregon State, 2 of the 4 best teams in their conference, still left to play. My money is on Stanford, because as I said before, I think Oregon beat Oregon State, but will lose a close one to Arizona. They've already beaten USC and Oregon, whereas the other two teams (Oregon and Arizona) are getting into a mess the next few weeks of all playing and beating tough teams.enigmaax wrote: I was trying to figure out the Pac 10 scenarios, you guys may be interested in this since you're going to play the winner of this cluster:
