Heels vs. Deacs from Chapel Thrill
-
swamisezDean Dome better be rocking tonight. Carolina looking to avoid the three game losing streak, and worse falling to 1-3 in the ACC.
Wake played well at Duke, but didn't have the playmakers to get them the victory. At Carolina, they will look to Ish Smith and Al-Farouq Aminu to lead them to a hotly contested victory -
ironman02Didn't see this thread, swami. My bad.
-
swamisezno worries, my thread titles suck apparently
I just don't have your energy. -
ironman02Ish Smith is killing Carolina early, just as I figured he would.
At least the Heels showed up for the beginning of this game...close game so far. -
swamisezYeah, ish is the xfactor in this one.
Wear is playing well for Carolina, that is a welcomed sight for heels fans. Rebounding and shooting it well. -
ironman02The Wears are gettin it done too. Nice job by both David and Travis early on.
-
ironman02Carolina very sloppy the last few possessions. Can't have that junk tonight.
-
ironman02Drew's (and the team, in general) effort to play defense against Smith is just pathetic. He's not much better on the offensive end either.
-
ironman02Only down 3 at the half. I guess I'll take it, considering the Heels made about every mistake imaginable once again.
Mark Jackson was right that Carolina has played pretty good defense in the half-court, but they really need to stop Smith from pushing it up the floor. If Carolina can make some shots from the perimeter, and get the ball to Thompson inside a little more, they might be able to pull out a win. -
swamisezCarolina hasn't played nearly the frenetic pace they did against GaTech. The Jackets did a good job speeding them up, Wake obviously needs to do the same, but they aren't.
Wake feels they can score inside easily so they are playing a slower game, getting post entries from the wing to McFarland, Aminu, and Williams. Carolina can make an easy adjustment inside to stop the entry, and I don't think Wake can shoot it well enough to win. -
Cleveland BuckI enjoy Breen, Van Gundy, and Jackson, but it is odd watching them do a college game.
-
ironman02It would be nice if someone in a Carolina uniform would box Aminu out and grab a rebound. Really wish Davis was playing tonight because he's honestly the only Carolina big that goes after rebounds with some sense of urgency.
-

I agree. It does seem a little weird since we're used to them doing the NBA, but they've been very good tonight. Wouldn't mind seeing them do more college games in the future, but I'm sure that won't happen too often.Cleveland Buck wrote: I enjoy Breen, Van Gundy, and Jackson, but it is odd watching them do a college game. -
ironman02Wake is making big shots and Carolina isn't. Had the lead down to one and now it's up to nine.
Not looking good. This is just ridiculously frustrating. -
ironman02Wake shooting about 90% from 3 point range in the 2nd half.
This is just awful. -
september63No surprise!! NC has been careless with the ball all season. This could be a classiic year where NC doesnt make the NCAA Tournament.
-
ironman0212-7.
I have no idea how this team is this bad, but they are. I see absolutely nothing positive right now.
There are guys sitting out with injuries constantly, no one can make a jump shot (even when they're wide open) and the overall execution is just disgusting.
Two losses in a row in the Dean Dome, three losses in a row overall, and four of the last five. I feel like it's 2001-2002 again.
Hope to see things improve when the Heels visit NC State next week. -
swamisezKen Pomeroy projects Carolina to finish 18-13
-
ironman0218-13 would mean 7-9 in the ACC (I'm not so sure they'll get 7 wins) and most likely not in the NCAA Tournament.
-
reclegend22I usually feel like I've hit heroin on nights like this, especially in the Dome. I feel nothing.
I'm now convinced that if Duke doesn't win both meetings this season (there won't be a third; Carolina won't survive the quarters -- possibly the Les Robinson game -- of the ACC Tournament likely), Coach K needs to hit the road.
I'm being facetious (yes, Coach K leaving is a dramatic issue to this Duke fan), obviously, but there is no reason for Duke to not to sweep the Heels this season.
It's not Roy's fault -- it is game number 19 and practice number 53 after all (inside joke for those who saw Cola's most recent radio show -- but I can't believe how much the Heels have regressed since the Syracuse game in New York early in the season. Obviously there are some injury issues with Zeller and Davis and Ginyard in the past few weeks, but man oh man. -
swamisezCarolina is a young team, they are getting better. Only had 10? turnovers tonight that is an improvement. Just takes a little time.
Heels fans are going to have to learn some patience. I have already heard some fans ask "How long till football"
I would be lying if I told you that I wasn't enjoying this thoroughly. -
ironman02
Yeah, definitely young and those young guys haven't developed at the rate that was expected. They did turn the ball over less tonight, but the offensive execution just isn't there. Even when they get open looks, they rarely make them. I think the confidence of most of these guys is at zero right now, and that's tough to recover from.swamisez wrote: Carolina is a young team, they are getting better. The next three games (@ NC State, UVA, and @ VT) are extremely important for this team. They better improve quickly and take advantage of that stretch before the schedule gets REALLY rough. -
ironman02
We've definitely been spoiled. That's for sure.swamisez wrote:

I'm trying my best to be patient, but it's pretty frustrating. I'm not the most patient person even when things are going well. -
swamisezCarolina should win the first two, I don't see them winning at Cassel Coliseum. It is tough when you are ranked in the top 5 let alone struggling like the Heels.
-
wildcats20I didn't get to watch it. About to turn the DVR on now to see how bad it really was.
