which one of the 3 is best in your opinion ?
Some say that one or the other favors particular schools.
Here are all three lists, Scout released theirs yesterday, the other 2 were last week.

    scout

    rivals

    ESPNU

I prefer Rivals, not really sure why, just always been my go to. Espn is always behind.

    I prefer Scout. I don't know why I prefer it over Rivals. . .

ESPN is horrible in my opinion. I personally think it will only get worse with the $ Billion SEC deal.

Rivals is like a Blu Ray disc, Scout is like a DVD
  • Tinkertrain
Rival's bases their rankings WAY to heavily on combine performance and not enough towards actual play on the field.

I'm pretty sure they don't. . . if they do they are doing it wrong! haha

    2010 Scout Top 10
    1. Seantrel Henderson - Undecided
    2. Ronald Powell - Florida
    3. Robert Woods - USC
    4. Kyle Prater - USC
    5. Keenan Allen - Alabama
    6. Sharrif Floyd - Florida
    7. Jackson Jeffcoat - Undecided
    8. Andrew Norwell - OSU
    9. Marcus Lattimore - Undecided
    10. Chris Martin - California

    2010 ESPN Top 10
    1. Ronald Powell - Florida
    2. Jackson Jeffcoat - Undecided
    3. Dominique Easley - Florida
    4. Jordan Hicks - Undecided
    5. Michael Dyer - Auburn

    7. Robert Woods - USC

Granted. . . Florida has one of the best classes I've ever seen, and looking at the top 10 only seems like it is splitting hairs. But, it just seems that ESPN has been extremely SEC oriented in their recruiting rankings for at least the past two years.

I like rivals way better, but i try to avoid anything ESPN if possible
  • Speedofsand
I also noticed ESPN has more kids up there who are going to the SEC. I've been told that Scout is influenced/owned by the FSU Warchant chief Gene 'Dot' Williams. Anyone know ? I've also heard Rivals seems to have the best overall info on recruiting news, but not for Florida. Scout & ESPN have better insiders at Florida.
All 3 this year have 5 SEC teams in the top 10 team rankings.

Even in years where both Rivals and Scout have the same player ranked #1, ESPN almost always goes with someone different. It's as if they are going out of their ay to be different so that people will pay attention to what they are saying. Rivals and Scout also both have a much larger network of local people who follow recruiting. Recruiting is basically all they do. While ESPN may have some good insights and may be a good quick reference, I'll take the sites that specialize for more detailed and accurate analysis any day.

Great post. I really don't see a difference in the information disseminated from both Rivals and Scout. The rankings are usually pretty similar without splitting hairs.
  • OneBuckeye
I like Scout's rankings better because they don't put as much stock into combines as rivals but Rivals website is much better to check a recruits info and to check out recruiting stuff in general.
  • Soda Popinski
I prefer scout but no real reason why. I like at rivals from time to time but never use espn.
  • Speedofsand
I watched ESPN "Recruitng Insider" with Tom Luginbill today, I was not impressed. Should be a good show Feb 3rd, I hear Henderson will be with him to announce.
  • devil1197
Tom Luginbill is not good imo.

Did he really state that OSU has no chance with Hicks? That's what my friend said, Luginbill said it was between UT/UF with not even mentioning OSU.
  • bamagirl
Scout--->then Rivals...and ESPN isn't on the map. haha
