#7 Duke vs. Wake at Cameron
-
reclegend22Ahh, death, taxes, LT sorrow press conference in January and Huddle Duke threads empty after Duke wins.
Nice to know some things are written in stone -
wildcats20I was impressed with the way Duke battled all game long with Wake. After the first 10 minutes or so, I thought Wake might just have enough and win, but Duke just continued to scrap and work.
It wouldn't surprise me if Singler has a concussion or at least concussion-like symptoms come tomorrow. -
ironman02I fully expect Duke to hammer NC State, even if the game is on the road. Clemson is another story. They're a completely different team in Littlejohn, so it will be tough for Duke to get the win. I highly doubt if we see a repeat of 74-47, but I would probably pick Clemson by 5-10. I'll certainly be rooting for the Tigers.
-
reclegend22I wouldn't expect anything less.
That's all right, I'm bored now that the Duke game's over so I just turned on my DVR to watch a little classic hoops. You'd probably enjoy it; it stars an ACC guy, Bobby Cremins -
ironman02I think I've had all I can handle of Bobby Cremins for the year. lol
-
reclegend22Lol, yeah, you probably wouldn't like it. Carolina loses in overtime to Bobby
But I only DVR'd the last 10 minutes, so it's an incomplete classic. But a classic nontheless I have it for 'pick me up' purposes, like a coffee. -
wildcats20Yeah I have a game DVR'd as a pick me up game too. It's from April in Detroit.

And wildcats20 pulls out the trump card immediately. I like it.wildcats20 wrote: Yeah I have a game DVR'd as a pick me up game too. It's from April in Detroit. -
reclegend22You might have won two more recently, but we each have three titles in the last 20 years. I've been able to celebrate, too.
I just like knowing that Duke's in the better position to get number four sooner. Duke's best shot at a title will be next season, with everyone back but Scheyer and Thomas and a stout freshman class that includes Kyrie Irving and the application of a kid named Curry. We will be the heavy favorites, IMO. And who knows, this season may even produce one if things go according to plan and the progress continues. One thing I do know, however, is that Carolina is getting nowhere close to it.
Have your fun, though. It's well deserved. But we'll be back soon enough. -
ironman02I don't think the chances of Kyle Singler coming back to Duke are any more likely than Davis returning to Carolina at this point. Ed has lottery talent, just as he did last year, but he's still not physically ready for the NBA and his father knows that. If he comes back, I don't see Carolina being any less talented than Duke. With Barnes and Bullock coming in, Carolina should be getting some help on the perimeter. Marshall will give them a solid back-up PG and allow Strickland to play SG exclusively. If Singler returns and Davis leaves, I'll concede that Duke should probably be better, but if that doesn't happen, I think the two teams are very close.
Carolina (with Davis) in 2010-2011
PG - Drew/Marshall
SG - Strickland/Bullock/McDonald
SF - Barnes/Graves/Watts
PF - Zeller/Henson/Wear
C - Davis/Wear
Duke (with Singler) in 2010-2011
PG - Irving/Thornton
SG - Curry/Smith/Dawkins
SF - Singler/Kelly
PF - Plumlee/Hairston
C - Plumlee
Not exactly familiar with Duke's lineup, but that's just an idea. -
swamisezEnded up watching this game with a load of Carolina fans, and I must say the contempt they have is encouraging.
The ill will and rancor toward the Duke program is as high as it has been in a while thanks to the Heels recent struggles. Carolina fans were quite worried about Wake and the ability of Aminu and McFarland to score down low. Ish Smith will obviously be the x factor in the game Wednesday. If he goes off it could be tough for Carolina to overcome.
As for the Devils, Wednesday will be a tough one. The pack got some confidence with their comeback against clemson but they couldn't overcome the rough start. tracy smith was a best in stretches, and javy gonzales did a good job of distributing. Every game in the ACC is tough, especially on the road. I hope Duke comes to play. -
reclegend22NC State has a track record for coming to play against Duke, especially in RBC. I hope Duke comes ready, too. It is these "expected wins" that always worry me most for Duke. As we've seen in recent memory -- at FSU, at Miami, at BC, at NC State, at Georgia Tech -- Duke doesn't always come out ready, and leaves after a few rounds of unloaded blanks.
We must not overlook NC State in prep for what will be our toughest contest of the season, and what is quickly becoming perhaps the most feared place to play in all of the conference.. The trip to Little John.
