Just thinking about how many big name coaches and schools have been in the news this offseason (and late in the regular season):
Charlie Weis- in the headlines every day for the last 3 or 4 weeks of the regular season; finally canned after a 6-6 season
Then there were the names put forward/rumored to replace him at ND:
Jim Harbaugh- nope, staying at Stanford
Bob Stoops- almost, staying at OU
Brian Kelly- hired by ND, after leaving Cincy before big BCS bowl game. And of course leading up to the Sugar Bowl, that was pretty much the major headline, how UC players & fans were upset that Kelly moved on
Urban Meyer- major news story that Urb was resigning to address health issues and spend more time with his family
A few days later, changes his mind and taking an indefinite leave of absence.
Mike Leach- Texas Tech's most successful coaching regime derailed by accusations of locking Adam James into closet/storage shed/electrical room/dark room/really small-but-not-that-small of a room; fired by Tech administration looking for a reason to get rid of him
Tommy Tuberville(?)- successful former Auburn coach hired (?) by T.Tech
Pete Carroll- leaving USC to get away from NCAA investigations, ERRRR, take a high-paying, perfect-situation NFL job with Seattle
Seahawks
Lane Kiffin- unproven Tenn coach bolts after one year to take USC job, causing riots in Knoxville
Maybe I forgot some, but does this seem like the wildest offseason ever?
