Maruicci to USC?

  • september63
Maybe they will have better luck with their 4th choice?

    Nope.

There is no reason if I was a respectable coach to even touch any USC athletic program right now.

    Money?

That might be kind of interesting but why do they keep going for these pro guys. I'd try and get a head coach with more college head coaching experience

Maruicci was the HC at Cal and had them winning. I suspected USC going after him, he fits the bill.......former Pac10 coach and has recruited California.

didn't know that. Thanks. Well then I guess it'd be an okay hire.

Let me correct my post. Maruicci coached one year at Cal, had them at .500 and there was a big buzz that he would turn them around. The 49ers came calling (disciple of the Walsh west coast offense) and that was the end of his college coaching career.

Maruicci was on the USC staff in 1986. Then was on the Cal staff from 1987-1991, the last 2 being offensive coordinator. Moved on to GB as the QB coach and then came back to cal as head coach and went 6-6. Lost a bowl game. He has spent alot of time out there between all these stints, plus his SF time.

They need someone who knows how to continue to recruit the way Carroll and his staff did....

Yeah like Bill Gates. Just throw money at them

Pete Carroll goes to Seattle which is a so so franchise and leaves what used to be considered one of the best places to be and nobody wants the job at USC?

Jim Tressel just gets better with age when you see all disasters that happen at other schools.

That's because Tressel may be the only coach in NCAA football with morals.
