Who should replace Pete Carroll at USC?

  • mallymal614
    I say this guy.......

  • mallymal614
lol Too bad the Chiefs already got him. Seriously though, who would make a good candidate?

Since we're throwing up people that have zero shot at the job and pretending it's funny...

  • Elliot Stabler
This is most likely the No.1 Guy right now

I'm actually hoping Del Rio passes, because he would probably help keep the program on a similar level Pete has had it (minus any cheating, extra gifts, suv's and lavish homes to live in, of course).

Whoever it is will likely want to know what they're facing as far as potential sanctions before they take the job. It's one thing to walk in with your eyes open; quite another to be blindsided with probation and a loss of scholarships when your own job depends on winning.
  • Elliot Stabler
My personal choice would be Chris Peterson
  • Hesston
    Urban Meyer

Jack Del Rio would put the program back several years. The guy is an awful head coach. I mean I think it would be funny if they hire him and deep inside I hope they do, but still USC has to be smarter than this, don't they?

If I was any respectable coach right now I wouldn't touch USC with a 10 foot pole.

The hammer is coming imo. Guys like Peterson will have a Top 5 program next season and there is no reason not to believe that Boise will continue their great success. I wouldn't leave a very good thing for a program that has sanctions written all over it.

I wouldn't say anyone who has won a playoff game in the NFL and made it to the playoffs multiple times is an awful coach. plus he has never had a good qb while he has been in jacksonville
  • j_crazy
Del Rio would be my choice. But you HAVE to ask Fisher first, if he's interested (I don't think he is), he's the best option.
  • darbypitcher22
I could see it being Willingham from USC potentially
  • trep14
Jack Del Rio? Don't make me laugh so hard...yeah, usc is going to hire someone who just got fired by jacksonville

Did I miss something? Del Rio was fired?
  • Speedofsand
Del Rio not fired yet. I'm surprised Mike Riley turned down USC, he must know what's coming from the NCAA. Jeff Fisher said no. Del Rio is next on the list as of now.
You don't want to follow 'the guy', you want to follow the guy who followed 'the guy'.
  • se-alum
You sure as hell don't wanna follow the guy who allowed the whole program to run amuck! The next coach will be royally screwed!

    Norm Chow

    Chow -------> Seattle OC
  • ironman02
Did Chow say he's going to Seattle?

I thought he was the OC at UCLA. Isn't the Bates guy the OC who is going to Seattle with Pete?
  • Lovejoy1984
Bates is the OC in Seattle, Norm Chow is the OC at UCLA, and will never be a head coach.
  • Speedofsand
Chow turned Pete down ? I assumed he would take OC in Seattle. It was reported Chow was called right after the Emerald bowl. Jeremy Bates is good. Trojan fans are upset losing Norton, their best recruiter. Some of the star verbals are looking elsewhere, EVERYBODY is after USC recruits since Pete quit.

    hammer drops Feb. 19-21
    http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/ncb/news/story?id=4816942
Per NCAA policy, schools have 90 days to respond to the notice of allegations before a hearing is set on the committee on infractions calendar. That means USC received the notice more than three months ago since a hearing date has been set by the NCAA.The committee on infractions will meet Feb. 19-21 in Tempe, Ariz., and according to a source, USC will be the focus of that meeting with the committee.
USC has never acknowledged an NCAA investigation, notice of allegations or a pending hearing.
USC is a private institution and therefore doesn't have to release its report to the public under any freedom of information act. But the NCAA will make public the committee on infractions report when a decision on any punishment is rendered. That can be six to eight weeks after a hearing, meaning that it might not be until the spring when more details emerge on the violations that were uncovered in the football and basketball case.

So, which four USC recruits will finish out Florida's class? :)

I'm only half kidding. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Meyer reel in a couple of them.
  • Speedofsand
I see a couple not sticking, maybe from grades, in this class. Hicks is a Longhorn according to most talk today. Henderson 50/50 N.D./tOSU. Jeffcoat cancelled a visit. They need an OL, ILB, and will probably add a WR and possibly Hendrix from Cin. Moeller. He has not heard much from ND Coach Kelly. I think Jordan Hicks is the only guy they missed. UF signed 16 last year, and with 5 juniors going pro, a medical injury scholly, they are signing SEC maximum 28 this year. 11 early enrollees. Of course things will change before Feb. 3rd, hopefully not much for UF & OSU.
