Duke vs. Georgia Tech @ the Thriller Dome

swamisezBig game for the Devils, Saturday 2pm from Atlanta
Gani Lawal and Derrick Favors are primed for this match-up on national television. Tons of scouts will be on hand, so Duke will most certainly get a test.
Duke has had trouble with long athletic teams in the past, but this year it seems they are more equipped to rebound with them and play less aggressive on the ball defense (THANK GOD)
predictions?

ironman02Favors and Lawal may give Duke a lot of problems, but it's hard for me to predict a GT win. I really haven't seen them play yet, so I don't have enough information to make an educated pick. That said, the safe money is probably on Duke since they're most likely the better team overall.

reclegend22Pretty excited for this one. My kid sister has a varsity game at the same time that I'll most likely head out to, so I'll probably have to DVR this one.
Coming off that loss to Georgia last weekend, Tech will surely be primed for Duke. Like iron, though, I haven't watched enough of the Yellow Jackets to make an educated guess. My heart, obviously, says Duke. -
Ironman92Duke 76
Georgia Tech 71 -
wildcats20Tech by 3.
-
hoops23Should be a good game, but I think Duke may be a little too much for the Yellow Jackets who are coming off a loss to Georgia I believe?
Duke 79
GTech 67 -
reclegend22Yeah, Georgia.
-
slidepieceHopefully duke loses this one just like they just lost out on SF recruit Roscoe Smith, but I don't see it happening.
duke 82
GT 67 -
burt07Very, very sloppy game thus far as Georgia Tech leads 19-18 at the under 8 timeout. Duke's been struggling with Tech's press and have been terrible shooting outside the perimeter. Meanwhile Tech has not been able to get Favors involved in the offense at all but Lawal has stepped up at times. Should be a close one most of the way.
-
wildcats20Every time Favors touches the ball he turns it over or makes a bad play, he's really struggling.
-
swamisezwhen did Roscoe commit to UConn? I totally missed that one.
-
burt07Duke up 35-29 at the half. Duke getting decent play out of the frontcourt out of the Plumlees and even something out of Zoubek. Scheyer doing his usual thing with 13 points at the half. Could use some more production out of Smith and Singler in the 2nd half. Meanwhile, Favors is still at goosegg points-wise. It feels like Duke should be up more in this game but Tech has kept it close with some 3's.
-
burt07On another note, I've been pretty disappointed with the Thriller Dome crowd, I thought the place would be rockin today with Duke coming to town and the Jackets seemingly making another rise to prominence, at least for this season with Favors. But they have been deader than dead this afternoon.

I think that loss to Georgia, their biggest rival, took the air out of this game in a way...burt07 wrote: On another note, I've been pretty disappointed with the Thriller Dome crowd, I thought the place would be rockin today with Duke coming to town and the Jackets seemingly making another rise to prominence, at least for this season with Favors. If Tech could have won that game, this game would have been bigger in the sense that GTech was coming in on the right note.. -

september63Scheyer doesnt shoot so well against quality competition this day. 2-10 beyond the arc with 2:35 secs left.
-
burt07Tech up 60-58 with 2:55 left. Lawal has been nearly unstoppable in the 2nd half for Tech while Duke has struggled mightily beyond the arc and from the free throw line.
-
wildcats20Big time win for the Jackets.
-
september63Scheyer threw up a few uglies!! 3-13 from 3t land.
-
ironman02Even though I picked Duke in the picks contest, this surely brightened my day.
Big win for the Jackets. -

And I almost said Tech by 4. Damn.wildcats20 wrote: Tech by 3. -
ohiotiger33Always makes me happy.

hoops23Wow, great win by the Jackets... Shocked the hell out of me.
Always a great day when Duke loses -
swamisezTough road game in the ACC, not upset about this L at all to be honest. What will be disappointing is watching Georgia Tech flounder against teams like UVA and State. They are real young, so they will more than likely drop half of their ACC road contests.
Duke played poorly and still lost by just 4 to a team built to beat them. It looked like a replay of the Clemson game from last year in stretches. Long athletic teams full court pressing and trapping. Thankfully most teams in the country aren't capable of doing what Clemson GaTech can do. Why they don't do this to most teams?
Gani Lawal was a man yesterday, Kyle Singler was not.
