Oklahoma at Ohio State
-
Terry_TateNot that I really care about the flag planting, but it's a lot easier to do that knowing you won't ever see that team again. Glad he feels better after the ass kicking Ohio State gave them last year.
This offense is a fucking joke. Did Barrett have one good pass tonight? I give Zone 6 plenty of shit and it's deserved, but anyone who thinks Barrett isn't part of the problem (or maybe "the" problem) is a moron. Hard to figure out if it's the WRs or the QB when both look like shit.
Urban said there's no consideration for a QB change so we have at least 10 more games of this shitty play. Cardale got benched while passing for 250+ or so a game. I know Barrett is the captain and leader and all that, but recruits are on Twitter suggesting Haskins should go in. Doesn't look good when someone is immune to being criticized. I'm on team Burrow, he can't possibly be any worse than Barrett tonight. I would love to know one thing JT does well as a passing QB. Pocket awareness maybe? Has had one game over 130 yards passing in the last 5 games.(Edit: guess he got over 130 in garbage time tonight, but still) Atrocious.
And let's stop with the rotating. Put the best 4 D linemen out there and sub when they're tired. Put the best WRs(lol) in and stop rotating. Let the best players play.
Why don't they run the RBs more in games like this? Barrett 18 carries, Weber/Dobbins 16. I like to see JT run a little early because I thought it helps him passing, but carries should be a 2-1 ratio minimum in favor of the RBs. Inexcusable that Dobbins had like 5 carries at halftime.
That 4th down roll out deep pass was horrendous as well. Had a 1% chance of making it that way and the 1% is from pass interference.
The defense had some issues as well, but hard to blame them much when the offense was that terrible. -
ironman02That shit show that I just wasted money watching in person was an absolute abomination.
JT Barrett has zero confidence in throwing the football. ZERO. Every throw he makes is either lobbed/guided or thrown about two seconds too late. He looks like he has no clue what's going on, and cannot anticipate whatsoever. That said, the offensive line playing in front of him is completely awful, and his WRs run shitty routes and rarely, if ever, get open. Run blocking is what the offensive line is best at, and they're probably just average at that, but the OSU staff simply refuses to give the ball to their RBs, who are outstanding. Like 16 carries between Dobbins and Webber? Are you fucking serious?
That horse shit they pulled on the goal line when it was 10-10 and they had 1st and goal at the 6 was absurd, and was the turning point in the game. There is entirely too much damn talent at that roster to be playing like shit in every single game against a team with a pulse. The talent is not being developed, or not put in the best position to succeed. Yes, the players need to execute, and they're to blame for part of this, but the main person to blame is Urban Meyer. Yeah, I know he's 62-7 at OSU, but there are MAJOR problems with this team at the moment, and they're not getting any better. They have had their ass whipped by Michigan (but somehow found a way to win), got curb stomped by Clemson, and then got their ass beat off at home by Oklahoma. To top it all off, there were tons of big-time recruits in the Shoe tonight to witness that damn debacle. What an embarrassing performance to put on in front of those guys.
And finally, Baker Mayfield is a fucking douche bag. Hopefully Ohio State gets their shit together and somehow ends up in the playoff against Oklahoma, and then proceeds to shove that flag straight up his ass. -
FatHobbitHmm Indiana benched their qb today. The one who torched our secondary for 420 yards last week. Are they that good or is our secondary that bad?

mcburg93Why did the runningbacks only touch the ball 16 times? Why is Zack Smith still coaching receivers? Why is prince and bowen allowed on the same side of the ball? With all the linemen on the team prince and bowen are the fourth and fifth best? Could we not try other linemen to see how they play in a game? Can the linebackers get better? How about the dbs? Our d-line looked good but left huge open holes from over pursuing. Uggg.
The not running the ball has really bugged me. Not sure why one week you have 30 rushes for 200 and the next week you run the ball 16 times with your running backs. It has happened in every loss under Urban. If I am not mistaken the most rushes in the losses were 18. That is just crazy to think about. RUN THE DAMN BALL! -

No, but having film to study does.ernest_t_bass;1870856 wrote:I agree with this, and it really got me thinking. Is it possible that practice (experience) can actually make one's athletic performance worse? (Obviously not everyone) Pre-experience, one would assume that you are playing with a lot more intuition and "heart." The smarter and more learned you get, the more you take intuition out of the equation, and try to add reason. I think JT Barrett is a DAMN GOOD quarterback, but I agree... it seems like he's gotten worse. -
Laley23I had to laugh at this from a Twitter regarding the flag planting (couldn't care less either way):

SpockOSU needs to run between the tackles and pass to the tight ends. THen they can get cute with read options and deep passes.
-
SportsAndLadyThat game fucking sucked.
Wouldn't mind experiencing with Martell. Sucks Burrows got hurt, I could have seen him getting some pt. I think urban is gonna ride out Barrett because martell is too young. -
Classyposter58I can't believe I just dropped two bones for a performance like that.
I think our offense needs a damn reality check though, you simply cannot run that super high tempo offense without a downfield threat. I know BG ran that with Babers and it worked out pretty well bc they had a receiving corps that was honestly better than Ohio States is right now and with a good downfield passer could just torch MAC defenses.
So OSU employs this scheme without that ability, look terrible, and tire their defense out allowing OU to rip em up. We've gotta go back to our offense at the end of 2015, just pound the damn football up the middle and let that setup play action throws. We killed Michigan and Notre Dame doing that -
HereticMan, I could have sworn I'd heard all this talk about how new offensive coaches were going to speed up the game to take advantage of all OSU's weapons, making the offense far more dynamic. Must have been a dream I had, because the offense looked as shitty as I remember it looking during their worst games last year.

slingshot4everGot home at 3...getting ready to watch the Browns...but wanted to share my thoughts
1. Great atmosphere and the OU fans were very respectful (unlike Texas 2005)
2. The offense issues are two pronged. I saw JT waiting for receivers to be open before throwing, but I also saw receivers getting no separation at all. McLauren also dropped a TD that was literally dropped in his lap.
3. The D line looked average, especially against the run. #4 was gashing them all night long. Maybe their O Line is just that good?
4. Our DBs need to stop face guarding!! This is what frustrates me the most and I saw it a lot with indiana too.. Turn your fucking head to see the ball. That resulted in a few PI calls and getting burned as well.
thats it for me...want to have a pleasant few hours before the Browns piss me off as well -
like_thatI'm glad I have no investment in a college football team. I don't think I could handle an OSU loss and Browns loss in the span of 24 hours.

vball10setHave to agree that the offensive woes fall on Urban, as nothing's changed from OC to OC. He's an awesome coach, and there's nobody I'd rather have as our HC--but his stubbornness to make in game adjustments is frustrating as hell. If he's going to stick with JT, he has to go back to letting him run the read option with Weber/Dobbins. If not, I'm Team Haskins.
That being said...remember Va Tech 2014...GO BUCKS!
