(5) Duke vs. Iowa State @ The United Center
-
reclegend22Tonight, under the bright lights of Chicago, Duke and Iowa State are set to do battle in Reggie's House (the '98 Pacers got screwed). Should be a fun game, and it's a homecoming game for Blue Devil senior Jon Schemer, who hails from Northbrook.
Out and about on Michigan Avenue th sidewalks were certainly blue! -
reclegend22Tip is at 9 CT on ESPN2

ironman02I need to find another thread where I can root against Duke tonight. I liked your new approach so much that I might just try it out myself. Any suggestions? lol
By the way, I'm guessing you mean the Pacers got screwed against the Bulls in 1998. I didn't get to watch Game 7 of that series because we got an awful thunderstorm that produced straight-line winds and knocked out our power. I don't even remember hearing what happened in that game, but I do know that if Miller had been called for his blatant push off on Jordan at the end of Game 4, the series would have never went seven games.

swamisezTonight is Jon Scheyer's road senior night.
Coach K does a great thing by scheduling an away contest in one of the senior's hometowns. Good chance for all the family and friends to watch their player in action. -
swamisezhopefully this game doesn't knock The College of Charleston off the front page down here

wildcats20Carolina(or at least Roy) has always had a tradition of doing the same thing swami. I think it's a great thing. Allows a player to go home and play in front of so many friends and family.

wildcats20And Dook makes 2 jumpers to start the game, aka this one is over.
-
ironman029-0 run to start the game for Duke. I'm done watching.
-
wildcats2012-2 at the under 16 timeout....Duke should win this one by a measly 29.
-
swamisezDon't count out ISU yet. Long way to go. They will find a rhythm
-

reclegend22Just returned from a wintry trip from the Windy City. It was a fun day in Chicago on Wednesday. It was snowy, but the city was covered in blue. It was beautiful.
The atmosphere inside the United Center was just as great. I'd say almost three-quarters of the fans there were Duke fans. Although, there were lots of Iowa State faithful, too. And they were even more provincially disabled and doltish than I originally thought. When Jon Scheyer was curtain-called after his 31-point homecoming performance, a group of Cyclone fans (in the lower bowl) chucked their beers over at a Duke fan who was yelling something positive about Scheyer. The Duke fan, presumably a cultured individual, looked over at the degenerates, who were yelling, "You Duke queers," and said, Are you serious?. Another ISU fan was screaming at the Blue Devil team as it ran onto the floor, "Duke is in Carolina. Go back to your own state!" Since when is Iowa State in Illinois?
For the most part, though, the back-and-forth banter was harmless. There was one guy yelling in the hall afterward, "Duke Alumni, where are you? We can't find you?" Even this Duke fan can find the humor in that. I love the hate we get, though, both as fans and as a team, so it doesn't bother me.
As for the game, what a night from Jon Scheyer. 31 PTS, 4 ASSTS, 3 REBS and 10-of-19 shooting (4-of-9 3PT) from the field and 7-of-7 from the stripe. Over his last seven games, the kid who can't do much at all is averaging over 24 a game and leading the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (for the season) -- and leading Duke to seven straight victories. -

Indiana had a 12-point lead in that game in the fourth quarter. Then the "Last Dance" calls for Michael and the Gang started rolling off Lake Michigan. There was no way the Bulls were going to lose that game, on Michael's last ride, even if the Pacers had the game locked. The officiating in the final half-quarter of that game was mind numbing. But, then again, Reggie's my all-time favorite professional athlete and, at the time, I was a die hard Indiana fan. Still have that game taped, but will probably never watch it again. Reggie's deserved title was pilfered that night.ironman02 wrote:By the way, I'm guessing you mean the Pacers got screwed against the Bulls in 1998. And what you see as Miller's "blatant push-off," I see as Michael's "sloughing defense."
