Has the Gatorade bath lost its luster?

  • mallymal614
My goodness, we use to see it once every few years. Now it is done at the end of just about every bowl game. It nothing longer has that special meaning to me watching it that it used to.

    yea no one cares

Had that same thought tonite...in fact, when the Bucks were creeping up on Tress at the end of the Rose Bowl, I actually thought...as stiff as he tends to be...that he was going to get pissed when they got him wet. That would have been funny.

I agree. It should only be used for massive upsets, kind of like storming the field.

It could be worse. Anyone remember this - ?

Maybe somebody will bring back that old chestnut of the players carrying the coach out on their shoulders.

Especially since we don't have to worry about Charlie Weis in the BCS anymore

I think Tress was pissed but he was astute enough to see the ABC camera staring him in the face so he quickly pretended to like it.

^Tessel was pissed but Coleman quickly stepped up and gave him a bear hug, to lighten the mood. Then I think he was ok with it.

I am tired of seeing the Gatorade baths. The networks put more cameras on the Gatorade attempt than they do on the field.

The boyfriend and I feel that super soakers filled with Gatorade would be a nice change up. :)

Didn't George Allen catch pneumonia following the bath, which led to his death?

Agree with others who said it is now overused and old. Time to move on to something new.

Blanket toss the coach high in the air 2 or 3 times

    Here we go again!!!!!!!

It's like the old Miller Lite Man Law commercials.
The high five was determined to be played out, but was granted a continuance until an acceptable substitute is found.

Sure, the Gatorade bath is getting old, but it did have a good run over time. However it needs a replacement (that isn't reverting to something even older and even more played out) before it is retired.

Time to start carrying the coaches off the field again. Gatorade showers are cliche.

Who cares. I think its pretty cool. If you've ever dumped a coach ( I have) its pretty funny
  • Woollums9
what did you go darby?......pour some gatorade over your head after you finished 7th in your fantasy football league

    ^^^^

    first of all, fuck you.

Second of all, gave a coach a bath after winning a championship in HS.

Last nights was good because Saban was pissed off because they hit him with the bucket. He looked really pissed
  • Foul Tip
At 83 I believe the only thing Joe Pa could take would be a sponge bath.
  • Swamp Fox
I actually thought that they had injured Coach Saban when they didn't shower him, they clobbered him with the bucket. I think the "tradition" has run it's course and it's time to put it to bed.
  • jordo212000
Yeah I loved Saban's reaction. Priceless. However, I'd hate to play for that guy. I know he's maybe the best coach in college football, but that sour, PO'ed scowl he has would get old.
