(9) North Carolina at College of Charleston

  • ironman02
At the first TV timeout, Charleston leads 12-5.

    Game is on ESPNU.

Ginyard and Graves out with sprained ankles for Carolina.
  • ironman02
17-16 C of C leading with 10:57 to go in the 1st half.

    Carolina can't buy a bucket.

Pretty good atmosphere for a smaller arena. The Cougars want this one badly.

Watching it online because I'm too cheap to get ESPNU. Kind of choppy.

Carolina looks really sloppy, as usual. This is going to be less than a 10 point game either way IMO.
  • ironman02
Yeah, I agree. I'm sure this will be a close game throughout.

Carolina's defense is pathetic so far.

Crowd is really keeping Charleston up right now.
  • ironman02
Zeller is keeping Carolina in this game right now.
  • ironman02
This team got smoked by Tennessee and Clemson and they're 7-6, with some pretty bad losses.

This is embarrassing. Carolina trails 31-30 at the under 4 TV timeout.

They also were on the road for the those 2 games ironman.

Carolina just looks like a low mid major team to me. They have the talent of a normal Carolina team, but they play so sloppy.

TERRIBLE last possession by the Heels.

I'm not so sure that this game would be any different if it was being played in Chapel Hill.

Heels down 1 at the half. They're letting the trap game before ACC play get them. Let's hope we see a much better second half.

Yeah, it might be a 1 point lead the other way at half. But you're right, it wouldn't matter where this game was being played.

I don't know what Roy's policy is, but the guys were up til around midnight last night messing around on twitter. I follow a bunch(Davis, Deon, Henson, Drew, and some others) and they were all writing to each other and what not. Plus the guys got into Charleston on Saturday, not sure what that was all about either.
  • ironman02
Yeah, they've been in Charleston for too long, in my opinion. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind that is, but I'd say there hasn't been much focus for this game. Two nights in a hotel probably isn't going to be too conducive to resting well and remaining focused.

Carolina should be abusing this team inside and on the boards. They need to get tough, and step things up inside. Ed and Deon better take this game over, along with Zeller.
  • wildcats20
Simmons(I think) has been doing a great job down low for the Cougars.
  • ironman02
Yeah, he has rejected Davis and Henson at least once apiece. If these guys can't handle him though, I'd hate to see what they do against the ACC in the coming weeks.

Hoping for an encouraging second half from Carolina. They really need some positive things to happen in the next 20 minutes.

Don't bring the ball down to your waist, Deon!!!
  • wildcats20
Something I don't understand with our bigs. It seems all, but maybe Deon and Zeller, have to take a dribble or bring the ball down in order to do anything. They need to just catch and make a move. If they need a dribble, make it take them somewhere. Don't just put the ball straight down for NO REASON.

    Weird...lol
  • ironman02
Finish at the rim, for crying out loud.

This team never goes up strong!
  • ironman02
They're gonna let C of C hang around late into this game and it's gonna bite them in the rear.
  • wildcats20
I might regret saying this at some point in the next 3+ years, but I think the Wear twins were a mistake for Roy. Even though I do like them, they don't fit well. Maybe it's just too early(I'm sure it is) but there's just something I don't like right now.
  • ironman02
I think the Wears may end up being pretty good players. Right now, they're not gonna score much, but they do some of the intangible things that really help out. I don't know that they'll ever be a huge factor offensively, but I think they'll give solid depth inside.

If Davis leaves after this year, and the bigs next season are Zeller and the Wears (plus Henson if he gains some weight), I'll be pretty skeptical. The good thing is, Carolina should be unreal on the perimeter if Barnes and Bullock live up to the hype.
  • ironman02
Big blocks by Thompson right there. Carolina needs to go on a little spurt here or this is gonna be scary down the stretch.
  • wildcats20
Davis just threw the hammer down on that dude.

    Apologies to AC.
