Does the Rose Bowl victory help with any recruits???

  • Mr. 300
After performing so well on the national stage in one of the biggest bowl games, who may have been infuenced to sign the dotted line to THE OSU??

With so many young players hopefully returning, does that help too??

It may but losing 3 straight BCS games didn't really hurt OSU's recruiting either.

Last year I read an article that talked to an OSU recruit that committed. He stated that the bowl game didn't matter much to him at all.

I think it definately has a chance to help with recruiting. Anytime you win a bowl game(whether its the Rose Bowl or not) you're going to get a boost in confidence, recruiting, everything headed into off season workouts.

I think this could help sway some guys who were wondering about us(especially offensively) and may bring some guys out of the woodwork(its happened before)

Ohio State has some huge recruits still left too so hopefully it does.

It can't hurt someone will have to take away the big 10 title from OSU so they should see another Rose Bowl or better.

I don't think it necessarily helps, but it doesn't hurt either. Hopefully so OSU recruits were at that game and could see what kind of atmosphere they'll probably play in year after year, and that will get them to sign the dotted line.

i'd also say the win helps marginally in recruiting. The BCS losses didnt seem to hurt, so Id not think this helps too much either. Prime time wins though cant hurt.

Honestly, I don't think specific wins or losses have much of an effect on recruits, at least not immediately.

Ohio State didn't really see any fast impact from winning the national title in 2002, and there's been no dropoff because of championship game losses, either.

I think most kids choose a school based on (1) the coach and (2) how they see themselves fitting into the program (how much they like it, when they might get to play, etc.)

That's why Florida is playing dirty (in my view) with kids regarding Meyer's health issues, and why he is now talking about coming back after a short leave of absence. They don't want to hurt this recruiting class, so they're playing word games.

If that weren't the case, Meyer would have done exactly what he said he was going to do when the health issues were first announced.

Kids who were wavering on their choice of UF are now falling back in line. That's the effect of the coach more than the university or other factors.

    ^^^^

You have to wonder what would have happened if he would have resigned... one kid changed his mind and chose FSU.... you wonder where the dominoes would have fell had he resigned
