Fantasy College Basketball 14-15 Rules, Draft/Discussion Thread

  • Azubuike24
The league will be hosted, the scoring tracked, players selected and rosters managed at http://www.fantrax.com/fantasy/home.go?leagueId=a1atqyzri0fz3uag.

    THE RULES
Entry Fee - Entries will cost $40 and must be paid to me via Paypal at [email protected].
Rosters - 12 teams with 15 players each. 4 G, 4 F, 2 C, 2 FLEX players and 3 bench players. You will have the ability to set your lineup just like a regular fantasy league.
Player Pool - Players must be selected from the following conferences. Pac 12, SEC, ACC, Big East, AAC, Big Ten, Big XII, A-10, C-USA, Mountain West, WCC, Missouri Valley and Horizon. Each roster may have 2 players from conferences outside of these leagues.
Scoring - Scoring will be based on (PTSx1+REBx1.25+ASTx1.5+STLx1.5+BLKx1.5+TOx-1)=TOTAL/GAMES PLAYED=AVG. The highest AVG per week will receive 12 points, the lowest will receive 1 point, etc.
Minimum/Maximum Games - Since we are using average, the number of games played isn't a big deal. However, each position will be required to play a minimum of 1 game per week.
Substitutions - You may add or drop a player at any time, but once a player is dropped, you may not add that player back (other teams can) and the player replacing him must be within 5% of that player in production for the season (a post must be made in the weekly thread). There is a limit of THREE subs per season.
Playoffs - The top 6 teams will make the playoffs, with the top 2 receiving byes and the other 4 being wild cards. The playoffs will follow a strict 1v4/5, 2v3/6 format.
    Payouts
    $180 1st
    $90 2nd
    $50 3rd
    $50 reg. season winner
$25 MVP (team with highest individual scorer, he must play at least 20 games)
    $20 highest scoring team overall
    $5 weekly ($65 total)

Just to let everyone know, the Fantrax site is updated with all of our league settings to the best I can do. The only strange thing is going to be, we're going to have arbitrary head to head games to keep the scoring, but will do our own custom scoring on the website with the 1 through 12 format. Everything else, including live scoring, adds, drops, etc...can be done on the site.

    Ready to begin whenever!
  • Laley23
On final question, can we add/drop for whatever, or only injuries/suspensions like last year? And as a follow up, if there is no stipulation, I think Wild-Cards should be locked in.
  • Azubuike24
Initially, I didn't stipulate that, but it wouldn't be too difficult to do. I think all of us want to limit pickups. Also, the 5% rule makes it pretty difficult to really benefit much from a sub.

What is everyone's thoughts? Also, if we make this a stipulation, should the person also post the link to said injury/suspension, etc...on the weekly thread? I'm okay with it either way. I don't think it will be abused very much quite honestly, only because it's going to be difficult to really benefit.
  • SportsAndLady
I think you should be able to do it for any reason. You only are able to add/drop three times so it's not like it will turn into a waiver wire like fantasy football has.

I don't have a problem with this since the 5% rule is in place. Not like anybody is going to be dropping a 15ppg guy for someone putting up 35.

BUT... what if you make your 3 drops and then lose somebody to a season ending injury after? Just SOL?

    Yeah, I would say SOL.

So, its set. 3 adds/drops without any stipulation except the 5% of scoring for the year rule.

Is MVP highest total scoring player or highest avg?

Mulva;1662268 wrote:Is MVP highest total scoring player or highest avg?
I think since we are going AVG for weekly points, might as well stick with that theme.

Stipulation: They have to play in over 20 games??? That way someone cant capitalize on a guy who gets hurt after like 7 games and has ridiculous averages.
  • Azubuike24
That's fine. And yes, I'm good with the 3 subs. I mean, there's enough discretion there that someone could add a player or 2, but with the 5% thing as well, I just don't see how you will really benefit.
  • Terry_Tate
Glad the Draft is starting Sunday since I'll be in Las Vegas until Monday, lol. I'm traveling back Monday evening then driving to Cincinnati so will basically be out of commission until Tuesday morning if I can't do my picks by early Monday, so if I'm up to pick I'll do them Tuesday morning.
  • Iliketurtles
You also pick 11th so you should be good Terry.

And I agree with the 3 adds for sub rule and 20+ games to be MVP.

I do have a question for our bench players are we allowed to put them in at any time this year or is it still only if a starter gets injured/suspended like last year.

Gotta be able to change it up at least weekly. The only thing I worry about with allowing daily subs, which I brought up on the other topic, is subbing in guys who don't have games in order to preserve a high average.
  • Azubuike24
You have 15 players are your 15 players and can make changes weekly. I believe I have it set where a player is locked in that spot (whether it's his position or the bench) at the time of his first game.

So, it's going to be exactly like it is with like Yahoo fantasy. Once a guy is in the spot on Monday, if he is hurt on Monday night and is out for his Saturday game, you're not going to be counted against for him not playing Saturday, but you can't take him out.
  • Iliketurtles
Awesome. That's what I figured we were doing just wanted to make sure.
  • Pick6
I'm so torn on a strategy for this. I'll probably suck again. So many players and variables.

But with the first overall pick, I'm taking:

    Alan Williams, F, UCSB
  • Laley23
Best player available, imo. Cannot go wrong there.
  • Iliketurtles
Fucking son of a bitch. Never expected you to take him haha.

Give me Delon Wright, G, Utah

lol, why? He is clearly the #1 player this year. You both took exactly who I expected.

Ill take Keifer Sykes, Green Bay.

Haha I know. I just was hoping since he is a WC that he wouldn't take him.

Which makes sense, but not this year. No point in waiting when we get 2.
  • Azubuike24
    G Juwan Staten, West Virginia

I was hoping we would be able to have one keeper pick from last year, lol. There went my UCSB fandom.

Fuck all ya'll. Literally the first four on my -- and I'm sure everyone else's -- list.

But yeah, Al Williams is an excellent first choice. Dude is a monster.
