Tim Tebow

What an incredible stat line for him last night. I don't care what weapons he has at his disposal or how bad the opponent's defense was.....it's a BCS Bowl record. He deserves his due.....helluva game, helluva career.

Tebow's passing TD was in the second quarter with the score 27-14. He then added his rushing TD in the fourth quarter. He wasn't playing because it was a blowout, he helped make it a blowout.

He's gone now and good riddance.

I don't care what the haters say. I saw almost every home game for Tebow at Florida, and he is one of the best college football players ever. I saw Archie Griffin as a kid. Lucky me.

Gator fans and others are passing this link around written by a Vol fan who hates the Gators. Its a really great read like him or not.

Not the greatest QB ever, but he and the system were perfect for each other. I don't hate the guy, I respect him as an individual and his intangibles as a player, but as Billick pointed out on TV, he has to overcome a lot to be a productive NFL QB.

Can't argue with the career he had in college, though. Maybe the "best fullback to play the QB position".

The SEC is weak on linebacker play so he runs all over with no threat of a big time stopper on the other side of the ball.
And who does Ohio State play?

Billick pointing out how bad Tebow is, while Tebow is throwing for 482 yards.

He is right though if you watch the film.

UC's defense is pretty damn bad and when you apply no pressure, any QB will be able to sit back and fire away.

Tebow does have mechanic issues there is no doubting that at all.

Tebow may or may not turn out to be an NFL quarterback or great NFL quarterback. The funny thing to me is that people are so quick to say, "never". His mechanics and all that don't set him up very well to be an instant starter, but that doesn't make him a failure already. Mechanics can be taught and learned. The intangibles can't. The right situation is going to be important for him, but what would make anyone believe that he isn't coachable or capable of adjusting?

Pretty easy to see on the clips Billick used. He almost takes the ball down to his knees before starting the throwing motion. He will have to work on fixing it in the NFL. One thing going in his favor is there are quite a few successful NFL quarterbacks with less than perfect deliveries. Phillip Rivers and to a lesser degree Vince Young come to mind.

    this.

You should be that good when you have a shitload of talent around you.
And he is still better than ANY Quarterback OSU has ever produced
Forget Sleeper and Sage, you sir are the biggest d-bag on the huddle.

He will be a 1st round pick.

Shame that Tebow's performance in that BCS bowl game is even mentioned with Vince Young's masterpiece against USC for the 05' NC.

He seems to have the spirit & drive to become an NFL QB but I sort of doubt it. The mechanics can be improved but to overhaul a lifetime of bad habits will be hard. GodSpeed to the lad.
  • King Curtis
Tebow's performance is mentioned because he blew Young's stats out of the water.

I dont remember exactly, but I believe he had 533 total yards against the #3 team in the country.
  • King Curtis
He still has the best game in BCS history and there is nothing you can do about it.

Just because you dont like Timmy doesnt mean you devalue what he did in a BCS game.

He had the biggest game of his career and put up the biggest game in BCS history.

Everybody put up 533 total yards on Cincinnati?

Show me another player this year who even sniffed that against Cincinnati?

The only player that came even somewhat close was Juice Williams who had 349 total yards.

Your hatred for Tebow should be put to the side to be able to see what he did against Cincinnati.

here are some stats for ya.....he won a national championshipas as the starting qb, and a heisman trophy.....he is a stud, any coach would take him on any team....he led his class to be the winningest class in the history of the conference....stop with the hate, recognize greatness

He said no such thing. He said that Tebow's mechanics as they are not will not allow him to be successful in the pros. He is correct, he'll get the ball stripped and knocked down his throat if he starts his throws practically from knee-level as he does now.

The "#3 team in the country" also was terrible defensively- they gave up 45 to UConn.

Vince Young did it in a NC game against a pretty good USC defense. Not taking anything away from Tebow, but consider the opponent.

That, and bloodthirsty Urban Meyer calling deep passes halfway through the 4th quarter will tend to pad one's stats a little.

What is the difference? It isn't like he played 7 OTs to put up the numbers. I don't get why people constantly try to downplay every accomplishment. It was a BCS game, not Charleston Southern, and it is a 60 minute game but playing nearly that much is somehow a discredit, even though the other guy you are comparing played the entire game.

Tebow touched the ball on ten less plays than Young did and threw five less passes. If all those numbers were so easy to achieve, they wouldn't be records. And there have been worse teams than Cincy in BCS games.
  • jhay78
He gets credit for the record, just as he does the SEC all-time rushing TD record.

Young's performance against USC was more memorable, just as Herschel Walker will be remembered as the better rusher.
